Probably not many of us here. Just wondering who's heard from where. Mine has had an online interview for RWCMD and has one arranged for RBC. Hasn't heard from RNCM or any Londons yet. From Instagram it looks as if RNCM are doing some auditions today so does that mean it's a no? Reckons none of his mates have heard either.

Well done sirius DS - plenty there to choose from, but if he has a great relationship with existing teacher and prefers RNCM then chat about reputation etc of each place shouldn't sway him - so much down to the teachers and the department.
RAM scholarship for DD to go with Guildhall one offered a couple of weeks ago. Just waiting for RCM now.

Siriusmuggle · 10/12/2021 17:51

That’s excellent nomorehorses

Another scholarship offer now added. I really don’t know how he/we are going to decide.

Fantastic news, sirius. London?

Siriusmuggle · 21/12/2021 15:43

This one is RNCM, also had scholarship offers from RCM and RBC.

Alsoplayspiccolo · 21/12/2021 16:05

That’s really exciting news - all fantastic colleges.
Is he still thinking RNCM as favourite?
As an aside, it just goes to show that NYO isn’t the be all and end all of everything; conservatoire scholarships aren’t easy to come by, so he must be something special.

Siriusmuggle · 21/12/2021 21:03

Ah thank you, he’s not bad. It does make the NYO fail seem a bit strange! It’s 50:50 RCM and RNCM I think. Very different in a lot of ways and I don’t know how we’ll come to a collective decision.

And an offer from RAM. So 6 from 6. I’m a bit amazed.

@Siriusmuggle I'm sure my DD who is a first year at RCM would be happy to have a chat with him if he wanted to

PaddingtonPaddington · 22/12/2021 17:14

Congrats to your DS @Siriusmuggle. That’s lovely news.

DD has accepted her offer at RWCMD today and she’s really happy and looking forward to it especially after doing the offer holder day.

Alsoplayspiccolo · 22/12/2021 17:58

Wowee, sirius, a full house is fantastic!
I don’t envy your DS, having to choose.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 23/12/2021 10:29

@Siriusmuggle
Brilliant news - what a choice to make! Please let us know which he chooses.
DS1 has this morning received a postgrad offer from RAM to add to his pg offer from RCM, so going to RWCMD for undergrad clearly worked for him.

@PaddingtonPaddington - many congrats to your DD too. 👍

Siriusmuggle · 23/12/2021 13:26

Well done @PaddingtonPaddington, great to have a solid plan. Well done @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats too- a choice to be made there as well!
He's now had a scholarship offer from RAM so we're up to 6 offers and 5 scholarships and no sound method of choosing. He's got friends going to all of them and knows people already at most of them. I think we'll let the dust settle then start doing some big research into course content and how much academic work is involved etc

OP posts:
Siriusmuggle · 07/01/2022 08:44

I think we’re now down to a choice of two, he’s got offer holder days at both then it’s decision time. We seem to have a marginal favourite now.

OP posts:
Siriusmuggle · 19/01/2022 12:22

We seem to finally have a decision. He’s going for RNCM. He didn’t really like RCM at the offer holder day and wants to stay with his current tutor as he prefers his approach. So there we go, full scholarship at RCM is being turned down. I think it’s a sensible choice.
Has everyone else come to a decision?

OP posts:
PaddingtonPaddington · 21/01/2022 19:42

@Siriusmuggle great to make a decision. RNCM is a fantastic choice and good he can stay with current tutor.

Siriusmuggle · 21/01/2022 19:45

Still need him to actually click the accept button! He liked the atmosphere at RNCM best- said it was the most friendly and relaxed.

OP posts:
SlippersAndCake · 21/01/2022 21:04

My DD said the same about the atmosphere at RNCM. I think that it will suit her too. She is also planning to turn down a scholarship to accept. I think it is the right choice though - 4 years is a long time to stay somewhere and so I think she will be happier going somewhere where she feels she will fit in.

Siriusmuggle · 22/01/2022 09:05

That’s great Slippers, it certainly sounds lovely.

Glad to hear that decisions are made - ours took it to the wire to make her mind up.

mydarkstar95 · 23/01/2022 10:53

Just found this thread and I'm so interested, as this will be my DD in 2 years time and I don't know anything about the process. She is at specialist music school so I hope they will sort most of it out. Does anyone have any advice or things they wish they had done/known two years prior?

Siriusmuggle · 23/01/2022 11:15

Hi @mydarkstar95 mine has been at a specialist school for 6th form. School took care of everything, they know what they’re doing. It was partly done via video this year of course.

Thanks! That's a relief. Is it worth trying to see/tour the various conservatoires to give her a sense of what they are like? I think her teacher will set her up with advisory lessons at various places so maybe she just gets a feel for them then? I am American and doing university tours with my parents was a big part of my junior year of high school!
Siriusmuggle · 23/01/2022 12:45

It’s been difficult to do visits due to covid. At the time of applying he’d only visited one! He’s visited them all now as they have offer holder days and some second rounds were in person.
