I am refreshing my emails every 0.1 seconds

I’ve applied for a PhD, no one knows, I was scared to tell anyone in case I didn’t get in

I’ve been checking the status of my application regularly- they told me I’d hear in around 4 weeks and it’s been 9!

Today I got a notice telling me to contact the admissions team

Obviously no ones available by phone so I’ve emailed them and now I am in an agonising wait to find out if I’ve been rejected or not

I just needed to tell someone!

They have all my details so I don’t know why they can’t just contact me, or just say accepted/declined!

It makes me think there’s some complication or not good news as surely they’d just say otherwise

I feel like I can’t concentrate on anything else, I’m working from home but I’ve achieved nothing for hours now!!

It’s so frustrating that I can’t just call someone

I have tried the switchboard even to see if there was a human anywhere that can speed things up, but it just says basically; email us and it’ll take us forever to reply because of covid

My final mark was released this afternoon and I'm pretty happy overall so a bit of relief for me.

Still not heard!! Painful!

At least at 6pm I could relax a bit as I knew it wasn’t going to happen today.

And yes! I ran job IVs recently, and we made a decision Friday afternoon, the person calling the candidates said they would just do it Monday morning, I couldn’t believe what psychopaths I was working with Grin

I can only presume the person has taken a personal disliking to me, why else would you leave someone to suffer like this

My daughter is in the same boat! Some have responded then gone quiet again. Some have yet to respond. She says there is no timetable as such.

Covid-19 has had an impact, too. She had to pull one application as, very late on, that Faculty announced it is not accepting any applications at all for an Autumn 2021 start because of Covid-19.

So we empathise and sympathise!
