I am refreshing my emails every 0.1 seconds

I’ve applied for a PhD, no one knows, I was scared to tell anyone in case I didn’t get in

I’ve been checking the status of my application regularly- they told me I’d hear in around 4 weeks and it’s been 9!

Today I got a notice telling me to contact the admissions team

Obviously no ones available by phone so I’ve emailed them and now I am in an agonising wait to find out if I’ve been rejected or not

I just needed to tell someone!

So is ‘yes’

But perhaps a yes conditional needs to be discussed, and I’ll take that at this point!

I have just found out that there’s only one person at the moment on the team that will be contacting me. And they work part time.
But I don’t know what days

I’m starting to give up on hearing back this week
I’m trying to think well at least it’ll be a nice start to next week if hear then! Hahahaha just to convince myself I actually want to wait allllll weekend to find out

It's beyond frustrating. I go through phases of thinking 'oh well, it will be tomorrow' and then checking like mad, just incase.

Luckily, I've a busy day of work tomorrow so I can distract myself somewhat.

I really hope you get your news tomorrow so you can celebrate with a glass of something lovely tomorrow evening!

Can you not copy lots of other people in on an email who might no something and might respond quicker? Central admissions team, school admissions admin team, supervisor? Do you know for definite who your supervisor would be? Is there more than one?

I thought I was being a bit unhinged to start emailing all sorts of people, particularly after it only being a day

Also if it’s a rejection it puts them in a weird position

But I think I’m going to have to today! How can they tell me a decision has been made and not tell me what it is?!

I can only assume the person in admissions is a terrible person who gets off on the power.

Hi OP. Depending on the field of PhD you've applied in, it's likely the applications are sitting with the academic who has advertised the project. Do you have the contact of who the supervisor is that you could contact after the weekend to ask about the process?

Sorry you haven't heard OP. Hopefully the part time person is in on Monday.

That is so annoying. Sending a update email would only take a few moments.
