My son applied in October and still hasn't had any 'email with an application ID'? He has emailed and had no response. He's now filling in a contact form and planning to phone tomorrow. Should he have heard something more concrete by now?

They asked him to send a questionnaire back which he's done, but that was a while ago now.

@nancypineapple

I think Ds would be delighted with an offer from UCL! He is still waiting for both LSE and UCL economics, rejected from Warwick 2 weeks ago. Not looking good for him unfortunately so expecting rejections from these 2 as well.
We’ve heard nothing from Warwick. That’s another one we’ll get rejected from
nancypineapple · 11/04/2021 18:05

Wondering if it's better if DS gets rejected by his top 3 choices to reapply next year with grades in hand?

quest1on · 11/04/2021 18:32

Hi nancy - what are the two options he has so far?

nancypineapple · 11/04/2021 20:26

@quest1on he has offers from Nottingham and Loughborough ( his insurance)
He is happy with Nottingham and I think he will have a better uni experience out of London ( we live in London and thinking about it all Nottingham looks like a great city to enjoy as a student whereas paying for London rent on top of our mortgage will be a struggle for us)

SeasonFinale · 12/04/2021 18:47

Some history offers out today from LSE.

quest1on · 15/04/2021 18:53

Hi has anyone had any news? Nothing here still. Apparently they are extending the deadline again? DS past caring at this point and thinks they are a shambles and I’m quickly getting there with him..

Lampzade · 15/04/2021 18:58

Niece received an offer for Law at LSE today.
Hasn’t heard from Warwick

fiveoldteddies · 15/04/2021 19:28

Hi quest1on conflicting messages on TSR, dc not very hopeful. Also still not heard from another uni (but they already said before their deadline is end of April.

We did visit dc last choice and sofar only offer, and she quite liked it. A campus uni, totoally different from London. But nice and green with historical city at walking distance.

quest1on · 15/04/2021 19:38

Was that Bath by any chance fiveoldteddies? DS also has an offer there. Looks good.

ShaunaTheSheep · 16/04/2021 19:09

DS got an update from LSE today - saying they will make decisions by 7th May. This is getting beyond ridiculous now.

SeasonFinale · 16/04/2021 19:48

7 May is still before the offical UCAS deadline though so at least there's that!

ShaunaTheSheep · 16/04/2021 21:46

At least it's prompted DS to properly consider the ones he has offers for Smile

Tatapie · 21/04/2021 23:20

DS received offer standard today

Needmoresleep · 22/04/2021 06:53

@Chasingsquirrels Any news?

The world surely needs more econometricians. Smile

Not that he's told me, other than the extension email last week.

Needmoresleep · 22/04/2021 07:50

What an awful wait for him.and others. Fingers are crossed.

Chasingsquirrels · 22/04/2021 07:57

Thanks Needmoresleep, everything is just odd and up in the air atm anyway, this is just another thing. He doesn't seem overly bothered about the wait tbh.
He also said the other week that they changed the course a couple of years ago and you actually apply for econometrics now rather than moving on to it for the 3rd year.
It is still the one he really really wants.

Needmoresleep · 22/04/2021 11:15

I think you can apply directly but their website still suggests that most transfer over. (Presumably because many did not know there was such a thing.) It does not matter because all the first and second year courses required are available in either economics or maths with economics.

The big difference is third year where a one of their four options they each undertake a research project, albeit with a lot of academic and peer support. Brilliant training for future research work.

Chasingsquirrels · 01/05/2021 20:53

Ds didn't get an offer ☹

chopc · 01/05/2021 21:18

Oh I am sorry to hear that @Chasingsquirrels . Is he very disappointed?

sadpapercourtesan · 01/05/2021 21:20

Hi, my DS hasn't heard from LSE or Edinburgh yet. Getting a bit cheesed off with it now!

Chasingsquirrels · 01/05/2021 21:47

He's very pragmatic and doesn't show his feelings, so probably but it's hard to know.

Needmoresleep · 01/05/2021 22:07

I am sorry.

Notagardener · 02/05/2021 08:35

sadpapercourtisan dc withdrew from Edinburgh as also hadn't heard yet and wanted to firm LSE asap. But yes, before this she was awaiting with just an offer from her 5th offer (Although ok with this and gave her some security). Does your dc has any reasonable offers

portico · 02/05/2021 13:04

@Chasingsquirrels

Ds didn't get an offer ☹
Sorry to hear that. We are still waiting on LSE - but tbh, it’s a rejection we are awaiting a rejection but with futile hope of DS getting an offer🙁
