Panicking now re LSE no news

My son applied in October and still hasn't had any 'email with an application ID'? He has emailed and had no response. He's now filling in a contact form and planning to phone tomorrow. Should he have heard something more concrete by now?

They asked him to send a questionnaire back which he's done, but that was a while ago now.

@quest1on

Congratulations Orange!

LSE have started with offers today.., at last.

Thanks! Still got fingers crossed for LSE too. Good luck everyone else who's waiting.
fiveoldteddies · 12/03/2021 08:03

and waiting

BramStoker · 12/03/2021 22:05

My DD is still waiting to hear from LSE

portico · 13/03/2021 11:53

I can’t work out whether TSR is accurate, but are any LSE BSc Economics offers being sent. Agonised parent here.

Not here (although he wants to do econometrics and I don't know if he's applied for maths with economics or economics with maths). He said his economics tutor told him yesterday that they don't normally send out offers until after Easter in non-covid times, so he just has to wait. I didn't dispute this, it's better that he isn't worrying about it all the time.

Two updates: DS peer had an offer for history on Thursday.
DS just had email today saying they're extending offer window until 16th April. ( Economics)

fiveoldteddies · 13/03/2021 22:05

Yes, DC not impressed about delay

Mine received this too. This is getting long and drawn out now lol
portico · 09/04/2021 20:34

Still no update, and the TSR is showing some candidates as having receiving offers. Not looking good for DS1 😫

SeasonFinale · 10/04/2021 18:19

@portico think some geography came out not economics

fiveoldteddies · 11/04/2021 08:39

Not seen any offers or rejections for DC course either. We are off to visit the uni with her (so far only) offer...will combine it with meeting relatives

Hi fiveoldteddies Did not understand your message, has your DC been offered a place. Is that why you are visiting LSE?

Btw, we are waiting, in agony, for DS to be accepted on to BSc Economics .....fingers crossed 🤞

fiveoldteddies · 11/04/2021 09:39

No, no offers from LSE (but have not seen on TSR any mentioning of her course, no rejections and no offers). Sofar she has only received an offer for her 5th choice uni, and that's the one we are going to visit. To try and get her a bit excited about it....

portico · 11/04/2021 09:51

We have a UCL place, but it feels more like a poor second prize compared to LSE

fiveoldteddies · 11/04/2021 09:56

She would have liked UCL I think but they don't have quite the course she wanted. She likes London though... Her 2nd choice city she would be happy with as well, but they are also slow to offer

chopc · 11/04/2021 10:22

When did UCL get regarded as a poor second place to LSE?!

Times have definitely changed since I went to Uni in the 1990's. LSE was the "poor cousin" .......

chopc · 11/04/2021 10:24

Just saw the course was for Economics- OK UCL will be second as LSE is London School of Economics (!). But it is definitely highly regarded for the same

nancypineapple · 11/04/2021 11:50

I think Ds would be delighted with an offer from UCL! He is still waiting for both LSE and UCL economics, rejected from Warwick 2 weeks ago. Not looking good for him unfortunately so expecting rejections from these 2 as well.

quest1on · 11/04/2021 12:38

Hi everyone, found you over here on the LSE thread Grin. Yes, as I said on the other thread, there was a batch of offers on Friday for DS’ subject. I guess good news in the sense things the department, have woken up, but bad news in the sense DS hasn’t had one.

Do we think they will make their deadline of April 16th? To be honest, if DS hasn’t heard by then, I might encourage him to firm Durham or UCL because accommodation is being booked up (particularly at UCL) and the thought of still being in limbo in May is ridiculous.

Last year they extended the deadline until May apparently.

I hadn’t realised UCL had still not replied to some people as well! Personally, I think the whole thing is beyond ridiculous at this point.

ShaunaTheSheep · 11/04/2021 13:32

What subject is that quest1on?
DS has 3 offers for Politics &IR but still waiting on UCL and LSE. Not too worried about accommodation as he could commute or flatshare with friends who going into second year at London unis.

LockdownWine · 11/04/2021 13:39

Ds is just finishing his first year at UCL @ShaunaTheSheep and I don't think they book accommodation till much later though I may have remembered that wrong! He's having a fabulous time btw (despite lockdown)!

ShaunaTheSheep · 11/04/2021 13:40

Good to know, thanks.

quest1on · 11/04/2021 15:32

Shauna - it’s geography he’s applied for. The course at UCL is a 4-year programme with an international year, so does have its benefits.

DS could easily commute too, but would want to live in halls in the first year. On TSR, some of them seem to have booked accommodation and I thought it was first-come-first-served?

ShaunaTheSheep · 11/04/2021 15:49

www.ucl.ac.uk/accommodation/prospective-students/undergraduates

They must firm offer and apply by 31 May for guaranteed accommodation, which will be allocated in July/August.
So no need to panic, it just doesn't give much time to get the application in with offers coming so late.

quest1on · 11/04/2021 16:23

Thanks Shauna and best of luck with UCL and LSE. What a drawn out palaver.
