Hello.

How many of us are waiting for their DC to hear back from Durham? My DS applied back in October last year and is getting very down now he knows that others who have received offers are being informed that they will be told soon re college allocations.

I am usually a 'no news is good news' type of person but even I am finding it hard to be upbeat as I too am fed up Confused

I wish they would just let him me know soon if he is going to get an offer or a rejection and then he can get on with his life and his A Level revision without this hanging over him.

Peaseblossom22 - delighted you have finally received a Durham offer. One less stress to deal with in the current madness.

errorofjudgement · 23/03/2020 16:47

@Peaseblossom22 can I ask if your DS has been allocated a college yet? We’re still waiting to hear...

Peaseblossom22 · 23/03/2020 16:51

Nothing yet I am afraid , although I think he is trying not to think about it

GaribaldiGirl · 23/03/2020 17:34

We’re still waiting ☹️

errorofjudgement · 23/03/2020 17:50

@GaribaldiGirl - haven’t they promised to let everyone know by the end of the month? So hopefully this weekend?

GaribaldiGirl · 23/03/2020 18:14

Yes they have. We’re assuming if it was an offer we’d have heard by now

errorofjudgement · 23/03/2020 18:53

Does your DS have other options that he would happy with or is Durham the firm fave?

GaribaldiGirl · 23/03/2020 19:25

Yes she has others but Durham is her favourite. Not mine though - i didn’t like it much so will have mixed feelings if she gets an offer.

errorofjudgement · 23/03/2020 19:59

Apologies DD not DS!

NotEnoughTime · 23/03/2020 22:32

My DS was given an offer from Durham a few hours ago for his chosen course Smile So happy and relieved. He doesn't know which college yet.

Hang on in there everyone still waiting to hear. I hope you will have good news soon.

Oh that’s great news NotEnough. Is it his first choice?
Why does it take them so long?!

NotEnoughTime · 24/03/2020 09:34

Thank you Garibaldi I will PM you.

Ds just got his college , he applied to dh’s but got mine ! Not so trendy but he seems cool with it

NotEnoughTime · 25/03/2020 14:27

Great news Pease that your DS is 'cool' with it. I have read over and over again that the vast majority of DC end up very happy at the college they go to and can't imagine themselves at the original one.

My DS hasn't heard about which college he has been allocated to yet but he only received his offer on Monday so I'm sure he'll hear soon.

Peaseblossom22 · 25/03/2020 15:21

I think he might have been worried if he had got one of the brand new colleges , but he is pleased just to have an offer . Worrying a little about the A bizarrely I think he would have been pretty confident of getting one in June under exam conditions . Not so confident under what is effectively continuous assessment . Never really had below an A but how can they predict A in arts subjects

errorofjudgement · 28/03/2020 08:51

DD just heard about her College.
Plus pints - has own theatre, big green spaces, formals
Minus points - fully catered, not in the old part of the uni

NotEnoughTime · 28/03/2020 10:16

error I'm starting to wonder if any student gets allocated the college that they asked for!
