Oxbridge applicants 2018

I've hesitated before making this thread as I don't really like the whole making Oxbridge out as a special case when there are lots of amazing universities that are just as good for individual courses. However, it is a different application process with a lot happening by January should they get that far and irl I don't know anyone else's dc applying to talk to them about it. I expect most of us are in that situation. At the moment I rely on dd and the occasional foray into student room to learn what happens next.

So welcome all parents of Oxbridge candidates - a thread to chat over what's to come and to support if our kids find they have to steer in a different direction.

Congratulations OYBBK and everyone else with an interview, that's great news! Looking at last year's interview dates for English Lit at Homerton DD may well not hear anything until the end of November, we're trying to be patient. 😇 I'm enjoying hearing the excitement both here and on Studentroom as people get their interviews.

cambridge webinar about interviews might be helpful for people. There does seem to be an annoying echo to start with, but it goes.

Hello! Please may I join in? DD is waiting to hear about an interview for History and Ancient History at Oxford. She is very concerned that she did badly on the test. Plus, others applying to UCL for the same course as her have already heard back, despite applying after DD.
This waiting is awful for young people (and their DPs )

student room interview dates so far cambridge

Reassuring at least to see no natsci from Churchill yet!!!

Itinerant do you know when PPE interviews are sent? Not a brilliant TSA so not overly hopeful but want to be prepared either way.

Waiting on Clare for Engineering here. Got an interview from Imperial yesterday for end of November.

Not entirely sure re PPD Hubble

According to the oxford website the interviews run from 4th December for up to 3 days. My not very evidence based research suggests they find out only about a week or so before so we are guessing this time next week onwards (don’t quote me)!
