How's everyone feeling? My dd was pretty much able to forget about results during July but said in a very quiet voice this morning, "I'll find out this month where I'm going."

Is anyone doing anything yet in preparation for 17th? Should we be doing anything yet in preparation for 17th?!

Earlier the course that DS has firmed was showing in clearing, it had a link to the grades needed but they were the standard A*AA with a note that they may make a contextual offer so they didn't seem to be that relevant to people in clearing.

FWIW, the course is now no longer listed in clearing so if you've done a search earlier then don't rely on the list still being the same if you do a new search.

rightsofwomen · 15/08/2017 23:23

"Mum, if it all goes pear shaped can you take me to school at 6am?"

"No! I can take you at 8am when it opens".

Yikes. He need A*AA for Southampton and AAA for Manchester (Electronic engineering).
Told him I am available all day for whatever might need to be done.

user8526831517 · 15/08/2017 23:38

No pressure then Rightsofwomen?!

DS needs AAB for his firm and a C for his insurance because they asked for a specific number of UCAS points plus one grade C. He got AAAB in his AS's so already has the requisite number of UCAS points.

Can I hop on? DS quite laid back but I feel it's like waiting for Santa. Will he leave a stocking full of gifts or cinders?!?! DS took all reformed subjects this year so he feels less sure of the outcome! Anyway only 24hrs to go !!! Grin

user8526831517 · 16/08/2017 07:42

24 hours, it's going to be a long 24 hours.
Ds stayed over with his gf last night, she's very chilled but she had an unconditional offer to do a subject that is not very popular and she doesn't really get that Ds has picked a popular subject at a popular uni so there is some tension there I think. I'm not looking forward to his mood when he comes home.

ShootingQuadrantids · 16/08/2017 07:48

Same here user DS picked popular subject/uni! He also has a change of subject at A2 so he's done one of them in a year! Teachers were great with him very supportive but my goodness I'll be glad whatever the outcome once he's opened he envelope. Do we know if Track updates overnight or is it definitely at 8am?

TranquilityofSolitude · 16/08/2017 08:03

I think track updated at about 7.30am last year.

DollyPlastic · 16/08/2017 08:04

DS got a text from Exeter, his first choice last year at 7.30 am saying congratulations and welcome.

(Track hadn't updated by then)

ShootingQuadrantids · 16/08/2017 08:06

Thanks Tranquility, he can collect from school at 8am. It will be good to get an idea of what he needs to do once he's received his results.

TranquilityofSolitude · 16/08/2017 08:07

Just found last year's thread - first mention of the update was 7.31 Grin

ShootingQuadrantids · 16/08/2017 08:07

And Dolly Smile

stonecircle · 16/08/2017 08:14

Tranquil - I've just been looking through last year's thread too!

Dolly - DS2 had a text from Exeter a couple of years ago too. Wonder if other places do that?

dingit · 16/08/2017 08:18

Bet everyone logs in way before 7.30 Grin

ShootingQuadrantids · 16/08/2017 08:21

Do only a select few unis send a text?

Eve · 16/08/2017 08:22

1 more sleep!

went through clearing courses last night so DS now has plan B, C, D lined up and is not bothered by the whole thing.

I'm still a nervous wreck!

TheMightyMing · 16/08/2017 08:28

Urgh really feeling it now Confused. One more sleep ! Distracted myself by going the pub last night - gym tonight so I'll be dead to the world hopefully!

Blogwoman · 16/08/2017 08:38

Morning all. This waiting is hard isn't it? DD not sleeping well & feeling very stressed. Same! A text early tomorrow to say she's got into her firm choice would be most welcome - or on Track of course. She's really fed up that her school doesn't open until 10....

TheMightyMing · 16/08/2017 08:41

I've got to trek 12 miles to school for results , my friends daughter gets hers online . I'm praying that track brings good news or it's going to be a terrible trip tomorrow!

AS wasn't great for us so extra apprehensive 😩

justanotheryoungmother · 16/08/2017 08:52

Last year, ours updated at 8AM for everyone- good luck to all Smile

ShootingQuadrantids · 16/08/2017 08:56

DS school opened at 10am last year but they've moved it back two hours this year. From what I understand, because students found out on, they were in no rush to get into school if it was good news.

stonecircle · 16/08/2017 08:57

DS insisting he will go into school before looking at track. I suppose if you know you've got your place it makes going in for your results less stressful. But if you haven't got a place then it makes the journey to school much worse.

ShootingQuadrantids · 16/08/2017 08:57

*Track (silly numpty)

stonecircle · 16/08/2017 08:58

Shooting - but if they haven't got good news that means they're later getting to clearing. I'm sure ours used to be 10am, but they've brought it forward to 8am!

Waitingforsherlock · 16/08/2017 09:11

I feel your pain. Ds was waiting for his last year. He could log in to school intranet at 6am but had hardly slept the night before. He was taking a planned gap year so wasn't waiting to see whether he had gained a place. He turned down an unconditional for 2017 entry a few weeks ago and is going to apply again this year for an entirely different subject. So the stress continues and dc2 starts GCSEs in a few weeks.

Good luck to all. It's horrible.

GrimDamnFanjo · 16/08/2017 09:17

Glad to find this thread I am feeling sick. DD needs AAB for politics at Manchester. One exam was a disaster. I am dreading tomorrow!
