Join me. 😢😢😢😢

Let's put on Mamma Mia!

Let's sing "Slipping through my fingers," and howl 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🙋😭😭

And then pull ourselves together, pour a drink, put on some lipstick and say "Didn't we do well in raising strong, independent, intelligent young women?'

Thanks VanillaSugar - so passport should be OK and no need for exam certificates then - is that right? Confused

I am having to send certificates today Grin

Accomodation at Uni. Is it better to do it through the student Accomodation or private halls?

Passport or birth certificate is fine. No need to bring academic certificates as these are accessed online. DD would have taken her passport if I hadn't accidentally chucked it away. The replacement arrived yesterday which is sod's law.

As for accommodation - I have no idea - DD organised this herself. Try The Student Room - it's Mumsnet for students!!

Yes, not very pleased with her Accomodation! Loads of foreigners, she is in the minority.

Who was it booked through, maybe she could do a swap?

Which uni is she at? She could ask for a transfer..my DD was unhappy with what she was allocated before arrival & they offered her an alternative, but in the end she stayed where she was & seems to love it as it's very social.

Erm.... my DD went to a uni specifically for the diversity. She is in a block with French, Spanish, Lebanese. .....

Ds gone, empty nest. I sobbed at slipping through my fingers when ED was 14 and I understood. Makes me cry now.

We've unclipped their wings.. think of it that way. They'll be back soon to annoy us and to ask for money / and for us to do their washing.

Yes vanilla, Ds also seems to be enjoying the diversity in his block but I could see that if there was a dominance of any culture it could be overwhelming.

Well, a badge for you then. Hmm

Well said Vanilla - I was a bit Hmm at the post about someone's DD being with a lot of "foreigners" - sounded somewhat racist to me. I think your post Clam was unnecessary - and Vanilla wasn't claiming that her daughter or her were being superior in any way, just stating a fact and countering the slightly racist comment about "foreigners"

big thanks MagicChanges, so supportive, thank you. i have been wondering if the others will be any easier to say goodbye to, i suspect not. And i like the room clearing idea - i have managed to go in and get the sheets for launddry and thiink about cleaning it, so that's a step. and i havent cried for 2 days.

I disagree, I'm afraid. I think it was an unnecessary point to make.

Sorry. Just laughing at the thought of Vanilla being anything but lovely.

Oh clam. I don't get your input really. vanilla was responding to a comment about 'too many foreigners'. Exactly like magic explained.

Wear your badge with pride vanilla 🎗🏅

clam Hmm I'm somewhat perplexed by your dig at Vanilla did you miss the racist comment Vanilla was responding to? Or do you think racism is normal and not being racist is people trying to be superior? Hmm.
I hope Vanilla knows she should wear her badge with pride because she was being a normal, decent human being

As my dd will be going to uni next year I thought I would read this thread for pointers but as there is racism on here I shall go elsewhere.

user1472 Why have so much hatred towards others that are not like us its such a waste of energy and a backwards mindset. What on earth are these 'foreign students' going to do to your precious DC that will harm them in any shape or form. They're not monsters for heaven sake. Hmm
