Leeds University accommodation

Just wondering how many of your DC have had accommodation confirmed at Leeds. DD had her offer confirmed on Thursday, she surpassed the entry requirements and is now on tenterhooks waiting to hear about Halls. One of her friends who is also going to Leeds heard on Friday. Getting nervous that she won't get the Halls she wants (Henry Price which we know is over subscribed)

My dd applied for Leodis and got it but a lot of friends she has made on Facebook groups have been allocated elsewhere, the tannery, Liberty dock and Lupton, a few girls have been given non-ensuite when they stated it as a priority and catered when they preferred non catered so nothing is guaranteedbun unfortunately, everywhere seems to be very oversubscribed this year for some reason.

feltcarrot · 23/08/2016 19:37

DD still hasn't heard yet although her application is "processing" and could take up to 10 days! Am finding the whole of the Leeds Accom system a bit of a shambles really.

I just checked old emails from last year & looks like we got dd's accommodation email on the 25th so hopefully you won't be waiting too much longer. I think she was in one of the last batches as most people in her allocated accommodation were people who got last minute places etc

feltcarrot · 24/08/2016 08:27

But Leeds was her only choice for in that her first and insurance choice were Leeds! Really can't understand it if insurance places are hoping out, especially if they are going for the more popular halls. Oh well, the wait continues!

Going out not hoping out!

It was a few years ago, but I lived at Lupton and it was the best place to live. It's right in the middle of Headingley, so has direct walking access to the shops on the high street and several bars, pubs and restaurants. What it lacks in fanciness and ensuites, it makes up for in location and social life!

Just to reassure anyone who is going there!

LadyPenelope68 · 24/08/2016 08:42

feltcarrot have you tried ringing to find out, just in case the email has gone astray somehow.

feltcarrot · 24/08/2016 09:10

She has tweeted and her application is "processing" apparently. Will suggest she rings today if she hasn't heard by lunchtime.

Fingers crossed it comes through today!

hellsbells99 · 27/08/2016 09:47

Feltcarrot - has your DD got sorted?

feltcarrot · 29/08/2016 17:37

Hells no we still haven't heard Sad, she did phone and was told it was still "processing" and she should hear by Tuesday. The accoms person said something about how some of the popular accom is held back for confirmed places (???) so we are tentatively hopeful she will get her first choice.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow Feltcarrot.
There are posts on Student Room saying people are still waiting to hear. DD got offered last weekend and had to accept by Tuesday. Others will have received offers after that to accept within 4 days. Some will not have accepted the accommodation offered because they have changed their mind/deferred etc so I am sure that there will be accommodation available at some of the more popular choices still.

Finally heard today, she got Montague Burton which she is not happy about but is consoling herself that it is a 5 minute walk from campus.

Hi Feltcarrot. Glad you are sorted. We looked round this round when we looked round Leodis. It was pretty decent! And a very good location. Also close to a convenience store. DD hasn't got an ensuite either.

Chuckie88 · 02/09/2016 13:54

felts good news. My DD is also in Montague and had same feelings. She wanted CV but has accepted MB is fairly near, is cheaper and some flats are supposed to have been refurbished.

What room is your DD in?

Should you give out your DD's address on this site? Not what I would do!

Rosieposy4 · 03/09/2016 22:10

Ah sweet memories, was at Henry Price back in 83/84
Happy times

Sorry - posted here in error Blush

Dunlurking · 14/09/2016 11:17

Dh and ds have taken dn off to Liberty Dock. She finally went through her emails Monday to discover she had to book a slot. Luckily the middle of the day period still had space for today because dh couldn't have done anything else. Hope you've all got your slots sorted! I'll post if there are any useful revelations from the day!

Dunlurking · 14/09/2016 12:01

Ds just phoned to say dn is the first student moving into her flat at Liberty Dock and there was NO toaster and NO kettle, so they are off to get them next. Otherwise very clean and modern and nice. Should be easier for those moving in at w/e to work out who has already brought one of each. They'll do for ds next year, I suppose, once he moves out of hall and into a private student flat.

Dunlurking · 14/09/2016 12:12

Sorry, that post maybe doesn't make sense. Dn is an exchange student from Oz, hence only needs stuff one academic year, so a bit frustrating that she is expected to find kettle and toaster!

JamieVardysParty · 14/09/2016 12:16

This has brought back memories into moving into Charles Morris on this day 9 years ago. I'm feeling old now.

Dunlurking · 14/09/2016 12:26

Jamie you're feeling old? I moved into my hall 34 years ago with a suitcase, and a trunk that had been sent on ahead. Did it by train!
