Continuing Roisin's thread.

I've even succumbed to TSR, having sworn I wouldn't. Still no news here and haven't heard of news from any other source in the same subject at the same college but being very uncool tbh as the reality is that rejection after an interview would be much kinder for DS than a no ab initio. Massively cheered by a late afternoon offer from Bristol though. I thought I was chilled, I'm clearly not Grin.

Fingers crossed for everyone still waiting and hoping. It's very hard to see them disappointed, is the problem :(

Lol at the quill pen webwiz!

I wish they would just email tomorrow when they send the letters out but then dd is glad that (hopefully) she will find out at the weekend and not when she is in school.

cathyandclaire · 08/01/2015 19:25

Lol at quill and seal, am picturing offers being delivered by Owls, Hogwarts style :)

hattymattie · 08/01/2015 19:25

Last year DD heard from Jesus Cambs that she had been pooled by email on the Saturday an had an offer by email from Newnham on the Monday. Her friend received her offer by post and was on the verge of despair as it took 3 days to arrive - that was Gonville and Caillus.

cathyandclaire · 08/01/2015 21:19

Will he make it in time for Saturday? Grin

He might be quicker than Royal Mail Smile

bobs123 · 08/01/2015 22:46

Congratulations & commiserations to all who have heard so far Smile Sad

DD was told she would hear on Monday for Cambridge, but some of her friends who applied other colleges might hear sooner.

welshpixie · 09/01/2015 07:31

Congratulations to all offer holders and commiserations to the others. I haven't been on here for a while, it was making me too nervous Smile
I just wanted to say good luck to all the Cambridge parents for tomorrow, coz lets face it, it is harder on us than themWink

hattymattie · 09/01/2015 07:38

Here we go Cambridge guys - good luck to you allSmile .

That music is sounding horribly ominous now Marianne !

MarianneSolong · 09/01/2015 09:11

It's always been one of my favourite clips. I quite fancy going to the gloomy house on the remote island, where Uncle Vernon took everybody.

My daughter - who I believed to be fairly chilled and uninterested - has got just a little edgy.

MadameJosephine · 09/01/2015 10:23

One more sleep! Aaarrgghh This is worse than my own uni applications. I sort of wish I was at home to support DS while he waits but I think it's probably better that I'm not as my nerves would probably make it all worse for him. He has some friends round tomorrow and 2 of them are the ones that just got Oxford rejections so he will have people around him that understand

bobs123 · 09/01/2015 11:36

Haha - we're trying to keep busy - DD1 and her boyfriend (already at uni) are treating us to cocktails and dinner tonight. DD2's boyfriend is also coming round - also waiting on Cambridge results!!!

welshpixie · 09/01/2015 13:23

bobs123 our DD's boyfriend is taking her out tonight, I have to say it he is absolutely adorable, he will be the one who has to put up with the nerves today, he is very good for her. She is a very clever girl but very insecure at times, the BF has this way of making her feel special and beautiful.

Grammar · 09/01/2015 14:24

Couldn't sleep last night. One half of my brain says, 'how could they not want her'...the other half says, 'don't be stupid, of course she'll be rejected'...neither assertion is based on any fact whatsoever.
Good luck to all involved. Here we go....

TooTypical · 09/01/2015 14:34

Daughter now cheerful and chatty after going into school for a mock A-level. It's a place where lots of people apply for Oxford and Cambridge, and quite a number of girls she knows had gone for interviews at the former. Apparently all of them except one have not been accepted. On reflection, I realised that if all these people were offered places and then she was turned down tomorrow, it wouldn't feel great. But if the norm is to be turned down, it's likely to feel that bit easier...

MrsBartlet · 09/01/2015 15:30

It is all a bit of a minefield isn't it? Dd is also at a school where a lot apply to Oxbridge (about 45 this year). 5 got Oxford places.

Dd and her best friend are both waiting to hear from Cambridge tomorrow. They have already had a conversation about how to deal with one of them getting in and the other one not as they are worried about how to tell each other what their outcomes are! I am sure dd's best friend will get in, so if either of them get a rejection it is most likely to be dd. They have made a pact not to pity one another!

Amongst the Oxford girls there are very close friends where 1 has got in and others have not so everyone is treading on eggshells. I'll be so glad when this all done.

Good luck everyone!

bobs123 · 09/01/2015 17:09

DD2 has just had an email saying that they are now posting letters today as well as emailing Monday - at least she will now hear at the same time as her friends :)

GypsyFloss · 09/01/2015 20:45

Good luck to all those waiting on Cambridge offers. DD's school has not had any success this year with Oxford and only has a handful waiting for next week's news.

DD is waiting to hear from Durham too for combined honours. Up to today I was ok with the wait but having checked the student room I now see that offers for this are now coming out. It's all so bloody stressful!

roisin · 10/01/2015 07:03

Fingers crossed for everyone today for Cambridge offers!

ds1 has just been grinning for 48 hrs; though he tries to hide it at school as several of his mates did not get offers.

Decorhate · 10/01/2015 07:36

Yes hope the post arrives early & puts everyone out of their misery!

For those whose children have offers, is anyone else having odd feelings like mine? Obv I am thrilled & proud, for my dd it's a dream come through. But I keep fretting that something awful will happen now either to dd or one of her siblings. Like a sense of impending doom. Confused

Fellfan · 10/01/2015 08:03

Well the letter is here but no son until 6pm ......going to be a long long day, but thank you Royal Mail for doing your stuff. Good luck to everyone else waiting. These children have all done so brilliantly getting this far.

MrsBartlet · 10/01/2015 08:12

Can't believe your letter is here already! Our post rarely arrives before 11am. Dd is still asleep and I am hoping she sleeps until the post comes so she doesn't have hours of nervous waiting.

MadameJosephine · 10/01/2015 08:22

How exciting fellfan but it must be agony to have to wait to open it!

Fellfan · 10/01/2015 08:25

Hideous. But am absolutely forbidden!
