DD is wailing, gnashing her teeth and tearing her hair out writing her personal statement to apply for English and Drama. It is loooooooong at the moment and large chunks are going to have to be cut out.
In the qualifications section there's space to put vocational stuff... singing exams, dance, LAMDA etc. With an English/Drama degree it is sort of relevant but there simply isn't room for everything.
So... the question is...do they even glance at the extra qualifications section or does she need to shoehorn diplomas, medals and the like into the main bit?

My d has finally pressed the "send" button to submit to school for references. Though we were unsure how to answer a couple of questions so may need to revisit.

Littleham · 02/10/2014 19:56

It has been sent (& paid for)!!!!!

It goes to the school and they will be adding their stuff and sending it off next Friday. I'm hoping it doesn't boomerang back to us.

GypsyFloss · 02/10/2014 22:21

We did pay and send this week too. She's not on an Oxbridge deadline but her PS has had it's 4th tweak and school told her to send it in, ready for them to look at once the deadline is dealt with. Durham is her favourite choice so this early sending off of the form feels slightly akin to announcing a pregnancy at 7 weeks. I fear we are in for a long wait... Smile

And so it begins. ds1 has his first offer today (for Biochemistry) from Warwick. He's pleased.

hellsbells99 · 07/10/2014 19:31

Excellent news Roisin!

AtiaoftheJulii · 07/10/2014 20:55

Woot! Congrats to him Smile

Roisin · 07/10/2014 20:56

Thanks: there is a sense of relief that the system works and he didn't do anything ridiculously stupid on his form! LOL.

Decorhate · 08/10/2014 07:15

That's great news Roisin! Will be months before we hear. Anyone know if interviews are likely to be weekdays or weekends?

Carriemac · 08/10/2014 07:17

Weekdays for medicine in nottingham

Decorhate · 08/10/2014 17:25

Thanks. Had a look at all the unis she has applied to and just like the admissions process they all vary as to when they interview. Though after an email from one of her teachers today I'll be suggesting she sets her sights lower if she doesn't want to work this year!

Littleham · 08/10/2014 20:59

At last the application has gone to UCAS! Personal Statement misery is over for another year. Grin

Roisin · 08/10/2014 21:18

Well done littleham: it's Wine O'Clock!

Mindgone · 09/10/2014 14:27

Almost ready to go here!

Decorhate · 09/10/2014 18:17

Reference has been done apparently but my d wants to check it all over one last time. Just press send already!

Mindgone · 10/10/2014 17:31

'Send' has been pressed! In school's hands now, not sure whether it will have gone off today or will go on Monday. SO glad it's finished, for now!

Roisin · 10/10/2014 18:24

Well done!

Decorhate · 10/10/2014 18:42

My d sent hers off this morning. After a panic last night that she hadn't added in her UKCAT results. So relieved that bit is over!

webwiz · 10/10/2014 18:53

I have no idea what is happening with DS's application. He said yesterday that it just needed the last of his A level predictions adding in so I presume school have it under control and it will go on Monday if it hasn't gone today. DS is completely laid back about it whereas I am a bit twitchy!
