Like Pagwatch says, I can't wait but saying that the term has flown by. Just can't believe all that angst, worry etc and its all worked out rather well :)

Lilymaid · 06/12/2011 11:34

Friday week for DS2 and the 23rd for DS1 who is working abroad As DS1 may be going back to university for the 3rd time in the autumn - I will be on the "empty nest" thread for years more. I shall have to stock up on the vast amounts of food that they get through ... DH and I seem to live on work related event food and omelette so the cupboard is pretty bare.

mumeeee · 06/12/2011 11:41

DD2 finishes uni on 17th. She is coming home on 20th. She is in her 3rd year and yes I'm looking forward to her coming home. Didn't see her much in the summer. Although did see her for a day in November when she came to her Grandad's 90th birthday party.

NotnOtter · 06/12/2011 12:11

Wow I am surprised how late yours are home !! I adore my ds but 6 weeks is a long time - he's only away 8!

Bearcat · 06/12/2011 12:56

DS2 home on 17th.
Looking forward to everything but the ironing and the early hours crash/banging when he comes in from a night out with his mates.
He's coming home on the train, so thats good that we haven't got to go and empty his room which we had to do for all the first year.

Pagwatch · 06/12/2011 17:22

Ds1 is home on the 16th with any luck.
He does his own ironing.

Can't wait can't wait can't wait can't wait.....

mumeeee · 06/12/2011 18:12

DD2 is only getting 2 weeks off at Christmas this year. Think she starts back on 3rd January.

IShallWearMidnight · 06/12/2011 18:29

DD1 is coming home on the 17th, then we're off to my parents for almost two weeks, but she's staying on there for a few more days to madly revise before January exams, and going straight back to uni from there Sad.

She's come home twice this term though, so we've seen her lots.

GurlwiththeCurl · 06/12/2011 19:50

DS2 coming home on the 21st and it feels like such a long time since I saw him in September. Miss him so dreadfully when he is away as he is such a support to me with both DH and Ds1 being disabled. I am so glad that he is enjoying Uni, but feel guilty for missing him!

jgbmum · 07/12/2011 17:42

DS1 finishes on the 16th, and I can't wait. He's in his first term, but has already organised where he'll be living next year - I suspect some of his new friends "organised" him cos he's hopeless Xmas Grin

webwiz · 07/12/2011 19:11

DD2 is home on the 17th and DD1 on the 23rd. DD2 is ill at the moment with a very sore throat, she had glandular fever in sixth form and her throat tends to flare up easily since thenSad. She has a doctors appointment tomorrow so hopefully it will respond to antibiotics. I think she'll need a rest before she starts revising for her Jan exams though.

harbingerofdoom · 08/12/2011 21:44

NotnOtter My DD2 has been back a week. Option of 4 weeks half time or 2 weeks full. Went for the two weeks full time. 19th January-that's late! What year?

NotnOtter · 08/12/2011 22:11

2nd year !! so been home 3rd december until 19th January - madness!!

harbingerofdoom · 08/12/2011 22:19

Came home/collected on the 3rd Dec.
Needs to be back by 12th Jan for tutes, then collections on the Fri/Sat.

No exams in 2nd year?

funnyperson · 11/12/2011 07:29

Can they go back early to settle in before the exams? DD also has something called 'collections' I take it these are exams. Anyone know the importance of them and why they are called 'collections'? Typical to form she started muttering about revision timetables within minutes of arriving. Similar to my nephew who, it turns out, is on the University Challenge team for Imperial. (we are all totally overawed as he is only an ickle first year) DD has landed the heroine's part in a show next term. This will involve dance classes 4 times a week. She is thrilled. Only DS continues to break the mould: He wakes up at 3 pm ish , really wakes up at 7 pm ish just when the oldies are thinking about winding down, and wants to socialise at 11 pm ish which is past my bedtime. Arrgghhhhhh. He says he has handed in his essays on time and is doing lots of reading but I wish I was sure.... but it is amazing to have them all home anyway!!!
Mine are home! Xmas Grin They say the house is 'too tidy' . This is a result of following 'flylady' on mumsnet. Christmas decorations and the tree go up today!

homeaway · 12/12/2011 13:45

no idea about collections???? Waiting to see what time they will all stumble out of bed or into bed for that matter, when they get back. I expect funny that your house is no longer " tidy" as if they are anything like mine it takes seconds for them to dump shoes, bags etc in the hall or maybe they will have transformed themselves into tidy beasts ( in my dreams). I understand the worry about reading and essays and i am the same with my ds , but I have to tell myself that they have to sink or swim themselves now. Xmas tree has to wait until dd gets back tomorrow so that will be later this week.

Collectng mine from the airport on Friday. He's doing a year in Amsterdam.

Can't wait to see him!!

CherryLip · 12/12/2011 22:29

Collecting DD on Saturday morning (we live overseas) and she's home for three lovely weeks.

mumblechum1 · 12/12/2011 22:33

What a lovely thread!

DS isn't going until 2013 but I know I'll be in pieces, so nice to hear how much you guys are looking forward to having them home Smile

Bluestocking · 12/12/2011 22:34

Collections are exams. They used to be internal college things which had no bearing on your degree, but were to make sure that you'd been keeping up with your work, but this may have changed - suggest you ask your DD as I'm sure she will know!

amerryscot · 12/12/2011 22:36

I hadn't heard from my 2nd year all term, but received a curt text message from him instructing me to pick him up on Friday afternoon.

gettingalifenow · 14/12/2011 09:36

Am collecting DD on Friday and am SO excited. (This her first year). But DS is not back til the 24th as he's going straight off on the uni ski trip.....I'll be very glad if the french motorway system does not grind to a halt with snow until after that....

And as pagwatch has already said Can't wait can't wait can't wait can't wait
