Phew! Just got my application for pgce primary into the GTTR today and thought i'd start a support thread before I reward myself with lots of Wine.

This is my second attempt, I applied on the off-chance last year and unsuprisingly didn't get a look in. Better luck this year!

I'm doing the GTP with any luck. Can I join in?

Greenknowe · 28/10/2011 18:00

Of course, the more the merrier! Have you got your GTP placement school all sorted?

OP posts:
cyb · 29/10/2011 00:19

Yes that was the easy bit as I work in a school already. Have my interview on Nov 1oth

How about you?

Greenknowe · 31/10/2011 22:18

Oooh good luck with your interview cyb- so soon! I would have loved to have done a GTP but the difficulty I have is finding a school to take me. Perhaps if I don't get on the PGCE this year i'll apply for TA jobs and try to get a GTP through that route.

I've applied to do primary general at a SCITT (1st choice) and a London uni.

Just completed 'interview' which was a maths test, reading allowed, group discussion/show off session, and written essay. Then individual interview

Not sure how I came across, am kicking myself for all the things I didn't say now

Will find out next week

cyb · 10/11/2011 12:51

READING ALOUD

not allowed

Bloody idiot

Greenknowe · 11/11/2011 18:33

I'm sure that you came across better than you think cyb! The fact that you've got the support of the school you work in will really stand out I'm sure- they obviously believe in you Grin!

Hi, I sent my application through GTTR on 21/10...not heard anything yet. I'm a bit confused by the information on GTTR...do first choice have 28 days from application date or from the December deadline date to reply?

Greenknowe · 17/11/2011 20:07

Hi ballstoit I found this on the gttr website:

Q: You have recently sent my application to a training provider, when will I receive their decision?

A: Training providers should tell us whether or not you have been invited for interview within 28 days of receiving your application. If they invite you for interview, they have 56 days starting from the date of receiving your application to hold the interview and give us their final decision. If you can see on Track that your application was sent to a training provider more than four weeks ago and they have not provided a decision, it would be advisable to contact the training provider for the latest information.

So, you should receive some news by the beginning of next week I think! Good luck Grin

ballstoit · 17/11/2011 21:21

Hmm, I read that bit...but then there's another bit that says if you apply prior to the 1st December the provider has until late January to inform GTTR whether they are offering an interview Confused

I don't want to ring the Uni I've applied to, to chase my application, and have them make a 'can't read a website' note on my application instead Grin

ballstoit · 21/11/2011 12:02

Just checked Track and I have an interview on 5th December...no email or letter from uni yet so am awaiting further information.

Need to sort a suit to wear, childcare and see what work is needed for my interview.

I am officially a nervous wreck Grin

Greenknowe · 21/11/2011 17:45

Well done ballstoit, that's absolutely fantastic news! When you're feeling nervy just remind yourself that you've already got over the first hurdle by being selected for interview! Is it for a uni or a SCITT?

I guess that we have our answer about the 28 days then Grin. In which case, I might hear something by the 28th of November .

Hi, i applies at the end of October for a Primary PGCE course so hoing to hear any time now. I'm really nerous about an interview but am getting loads of great experience i can reflect on in my answers at a local primary school. I help out in their reception class on a friday and absolutely LOVE it. I have never wanted to do something so much in my whole life and for the first time ever i think i have finally found something i could be really good at. Not sure what i will do if i don't get accepted on the course!

morelovetogive · 21/11/2011 17:49

Sorry for errors forgot to proof read!

Greenknowe · 21/11/2011 20:16

I know exactly what you mean morelove- I always feel so fulfilled after a day spent working with children, and never want to go back to my 'real' job Grin. Good luck!

Eek, i've been intvited to interview next Wednesday!!!! Not a lot of time to prepare. I have a presentation to plan, maths test to revise for (not to worried about the written test), interview answers to think about, childcare to sort and an outfit to buy. On top of that we are hopefully going to be exchanging on our house any day as we are moving and i have a 2yo running around. DON'T PANIC!!!!!

ballstoit · 25/11/2011 15:53

OMG, the letter has come today about my interview...I have to prepare for a group discussion on 6 topics, which include;

To what extent is education a socially transformative process and what are the implications of this for the primary teacher?

What distinctive contribution can the creative arts make to the primary school experience?

I am no longer just a nervous wreck...I am a juggling the next week to fit in some serious research nervous wreck Grin.

Cybbo · 25/11/2011 16:25

I got on my GTP course! Am thrilled

Good luck to all to you others with scary interviews. Group interviews are the WORST

Greenknowe · 28/11/2011 10:54

ballstoit they sound absolutely terrifying! . Just found out that i've got an interview in 2 weeks time eek!

How are your preparations going morelove?

Well done cyb Grin- when do you start?

raises hand Can I join in please? I didn't know this thread was here and have torturing myself on the bastarding studentroom forum.

I've applied for a Primary PGCE at Edge Hill with IoE as my second choice. I'm fuming though because I had my application all ready to go middle/end of October and my reference took over THREE WEEKS to do his bit, so my form didn't get sent until the 16th November which I'm convinced is too late. Edge Hill are already giving out interviews for the end of January.

Did you get "application received" type emails/letters from the institutions? My GTTR track is showing application sent 16th november but as far as I know it could still be at the bottom of a giant pile .

Congratulations to all of you for your interviews and Cyb wow - congratulations!

ballstoit · 05/12/2011 20:34

Well, interview day is done...group interview was hideous, one very dominant candidate and 3 of us trying to get a word in when possible Grin, but I felt standard interview went well, could answer everything and felt reasonably relaxed.

So, just a waiting game now, they said can be anything between a couple of days and a couple of weeks to let us know.

ballstoit · 05/12/2011 20:37

PastGrace I didn't get any ackowledgement until I received letter with interview offer. I don't think mid November too late, one lady on my interview day today said she'd applied in Feb this year and still had interview (that was with Nottingham Trent).

PastGrace · 05/12/2011 20:43

Thanks!

Well done for a) getting an interview and b) surviving Smile. Hope you don't have to wait too long - good luck.

PastGrace · 07/12/2011 17:42

I have an interview - but it's not until March!

ballstoit · 14/12/2011 10:06

I've been offered a place...conditional on getting a 2i degree. I'm so excited, DD2 is somewhat bemused at me dancing round the room Xmas Smile
