Following on from a thread in chat I thought I would start this so that we can hold each others' hands through the UCAS process with all its challenges.

Who's with me?

congratulations to your DS gelatinous. I'm told some of the mathematicians were doing maths at lunch, presumably a past interview question or something Xmas Smile. Obviously a seriously high standard.

funnyperson · 16/12/2011 21:50

Congratulations to your DS gelatinous Wine well done: very impressive. Those who get those sorts of grades are seriously clever.

Yellowstone · 16/12/2011 22:28

Just seen your post gelatinous: very, very, very well done to your DS, I hope he has a fab Oxford life. Anyhow, worth the train supplement I think! Xmas Smile.

gelatinous · 16/12/2011 22:59

Thanks everyone, it is a great relief as he had (predictably) rather fallen in love with the place which is incredibly beautiful. Yellowstone I hope your ds gets similar news next week.

unitarian · 17/12/2011 01:32

Oh wow! Well done him.

adamschic · 17/12/2011 16:34

Waiting to hear about ds friend who was at interview last week .

adamschic · 19/12/2011 15:04

Only just seen this. Great news Yellowstone. Is Oxford, where he wants to go? I expect it is Xmas Grin

eatyourveg · 19/12/2011 15:31

unitarian · 19/12/2011 17:35

funnyperson · 19/12/2011 19:10

Fantastic news yellowstone a great place to do medicine! Congratulations to your DS
I have to say though I am slightly in awe- does this mean it will be four children at Oxford? OK OK what's the secret? I want to know exactly how they do it - how do they get the grades, do the PS, nail the interview etc???????How does your family organise its daily evening and weekends or do they all board?????

Congratulations to you too Wine wishing all continued success to the other DC left!

funnyperson · 19/12/2011 19:11

Feeling very happy for you btw

adamschic · 19/12/2011 19:13

DD's friend got an offer for Oxford too.

gelatinous · 19/12/2011 21:45

Oh, I'm so pleased yellowstone, well done him

ucasfracas · 19/12/2011 22:06

Well done to gelatinous and yellowstone's DCs, fabulous Christmas news, but really what is in the water in your house Yellowstone - what an amazing family!

On a more mundane level DC has offers from all three 'insurances' getting a bit anxious about the other two. Don't suppose there is any chance of hearing anything before Christmas now?

Yellowstone · 19/12/2011 23:35

Very glad to hear about your DD's friend adamschic Xmas Smile and yes, it's exactly where he wants to go, though he'd clearly like Imperial enormously too.

Without wishing to do an Oscar speech I should say a special thanks to funny and unitarian: your joint advice was passed on and made a real difference to DS, up to and including at interview. Thank you both so much.

As for the rest, I frankly haven't a clue. There's been no game plan ever though they are lucky to live a few miles from a very good grammar. It's also clear from my DC5's first Sixth Form report that we have now almost certainly peaked Xmas Grin.

Yellowstone · 19/12/2011 23:46

The evenings funny? Facebook, TV, other people - just absolutely normal teenage stuff I'm glad to say. Boarding? No chance: we're not that sort of money.

unitarian · 20/12/2011 00:02

I hadn't realised you had a quartet going to Oxford, yellowstone. That is good going and you must be putting something in their food!

May I ask what his offer is?
