Child sitting with it's mother, child was about 5, she's sitting there reading an encyclopedia to it, trying to teach it the correct anatomical names for bones. Child has a paddy, pays no attention at all, granny walks in and sits talking to a person sitting next to her about said child, how bright he is la da da! Child then starts screaming because he wants crisps (despite polishing off a huge cookie), after a few feble attempts at "no, you can't have that" mother gives in and the little darling gets crisps....that he then spills all over the floor, granny in the mean time is still talking about how clever child is. Child then starts screaming when asked to sit down and pulls yet another tantrum.

How many times now? Being clever isn't an excuse to behave like the exorcist!!
There's no point teaching your child the anatomical bone names if they can't behave well enough to leave the house!

I feel sorry for the poor child.

It's not the kids fault he behaves like this. He doesn't know any other way to behave with such poor adults around him and what child wants to be taught the correct anatomical terms from an encyclopedia FGS!

That poor boy. His first few weeks at medical school are just going to be boring for him.

Yup. School too I imagine. Ds spent a little time trying to help me learn the 12 cranial nerves for my exams, I felt about this, I'd never go the whole hog though. The thought of sitting in a cafe force feeding him an encyclopedia horrifies me. It was so blatently showing off. Poor lad.

There is a little rhyme that makes that very easy to learn. Not suitable for children though.

Why would you even take an encylopaeidia with you to a cafe? I mean, I do sometimes take books to entertain DC when we go out, but encycopaedias are HUGE. You'd have to have a fairly hefty handbag. Pah, show-offs.

Ds used to take a reading book everywhere (in the days before the nintendo Ds), IIRC at 5 he would read jokes, never an encyclopedia though (in the house sometimes though).

you will all be laughing other side of your face when lil bone master graduates med school in 5 year time or he may choose the 4 year graduate entry programme. providing his degree in mandarin and egyptology provide entry
