Metanium is a miracle cream. After going back and forward to the doc with dd1 and trying loads of stuff her bottom was bleeding and she was in agony. Metanium helped from the instant it went on. Its like wet chalk and you only use a tiny bit, dot it all over and blend.

thanks everyone. I know to let the nappy off but what do people do? Follow the baby around with a bucket behind them or just clean up any mess?!!

If your DS/D (sorry!) doesn't usually get nappy rash, but has got quite a severe one now it could be that they've got thrush rather than nappy rash. If the usual creams are having no effect then try using a little bit of canesten under a layer of barrier cream. We're just had this with DD (20 mths).

Metanium didn't work on dd2's awful nappyrash, but I used cooled down chamomile tea to clean her with after every change & the rash had gone within 48 hours.

leaving nappy off is the best for nappy rash ever. On holiday it was easy but not so easy at home.

I literally went around with a cloth and bucket and just cleaned every mess up, give it a few months and i'll give the carpet a good shampoo.
