Sudacrem

womba1 · 26/07/2005 19:28

i find sudocrem the best

poppy101 · 26/07/2005 19:29

Sudocrem, was also advised this by midwife, when baby first born and switched to this.

compo · 26/07/2005 19:29

ooh we already have this but was hoping for a stronger barrier type cream?

Whizzz · 26/07/2005 19:30

The one that begins with M ....ium - damn can't remember - but it's brill !

poppy101 · 26/07/2005 19:31

I dont think there is anything stronger, they always say to leave the nappies off for a bit, this is the best thing for babies.

Whizzz · 26/07/2005 19:31

Metanium ! Thats the stuff - stains like mad if you get it on clothes but it's brilliant

Nbg · 26/07/2005 19:32

Metanium. Thats what they use in hospitals, bright yellow cream (watch your carpets)

bee3 · 26/07/2005 19:32

another vote for metanium

Nbg · 26/07/2005 19:32
Grin
Nbg · 26/07/2005 19:33

Theres some other stuff that comes in a tub and it's pink. Can't remember the name though..

nannyjo · 26/07/2005 19:34

i found on really sore bums sudacrem burnt/stung, metanium is great and bepanthem( something like that) was good.

TigerLilly2005 · 26/07/2005 19:36

Sudocrem is ment to be a barrier cream to stop babys from getting sore bums but once they have a sore bum it will not work another vote for metanium once baby has the rash/sore bum brilliant stuff

compo · 26/07/2005 19:36

thanks Podmog - will be very careful and read the instructions. Is it likely to be available at the supermarket without prescription?

emmatmg · 26/07/2005 19:36

metanium will get rid of the worst nappy rash with 24 hrs.

I have no idea what's it the stuff but it's pretty potent, 1 tube has lasted us almost 2 yrs!

charleepeters · 26/07/2005 19:37

i find sudocream clears up sores - i use ds's in the summer when my underboob gets sore it works well, its an antiseptic aswell grin]

madmarchhare · 26/07/2005 19:37

Nbg, begings with D I think. They gave me some in hospital to put on my elbows when I was in with Hyperemesis with DS (was on all fours with elbows on startchy sheets and they got very sore)

compo · 26/07/2005 19:37

I was feeling quite proud that we'd got to 17 months with still using a sample Sudocrem little tub that came with our Bounty newborn pack but alas the rash has got us in the end!

OP posts:
TigerLilly2005 · 26/07/2005 19:38

Yes it should be on the shop floor, hope babys rash gets better soon

NotQuiteCockney · 26/07/2005 19:52

Yeah, sudocrem is a barrier cream. We don't really use it. Metanium works well. So does Camilosan, based on camomile.

Eaney · 26/07/2005 20:13

My dd had terrible nappy rash. Nothing worked. Having heard of Metanium I asked GP if I should try it, he said no it was just an emolient. Instead he gave me a steroid cream which has worked. Interested to know if anyone can tell me if Metanium is more than just an emolient.
