I was also considering the femenist movement and the affect that would have had. Frankenstein obviously at the begining of the century hasn't got a single central female role and the book revolves around man's obsession with creating life.

Dracula on the other hand has very strong female roles that break from the stereotype of obedient housewife - enjoying the choice of men for marriage, minas ability to master the latest technical advancements etc. Dracula chooses to 'turn' females, giving them power.

When talking about the altering scientific community could I mention Darwin and his theories of evolution and how if we can evolve up then we can evolve down (ie into vampire) etc

Does that make any sense?
