I'm going to have to take my arse back to the GP, aren't I? [glum]

Thought about name-changing but ho hum, why bother .

I have a massive bleeding haemorrhoid. Courtesy of DS's crap delivery. On another thread, someone's not-so-DH called her haemorrhoids "arse grapes"... well, that's what I had. They've gotten better over time, but occasionally act up... to add insult to injury, usually around my period.

So right now one is bleeding like a mad bastard every time I have a poo. To the point where I'm scared of going poo.

Here's what I've been using: prescription haemorrhoid suppositories and cream, and Vitamin E oil straight from the capsule, which has worked like a charm before. But it's not working now.

Any suggestions? I'm going to have to bare my arse for the GP again, aren't I? Possibly to arrange to have haemorrhoid surgery... fantastic...

okay

have you tried to manually wrestle them back inside?

glove up if you are a bit squeamish then pop in, best whilst you are in the shower

If you have already done this unsuccessfully, then yes, back to Dr pronto

Don't be embarrassed, mate

Oh, and in the meantime you want to keep poos soft soft soft so

plenty of water
fresh fruit and veg but avoid banana (v drying)
basically loads of fibre

good luck

SleighGirl · 01/01/2010 18:17

but perhaps having surgery would be a long term solution so actually worth the hassles & embarrassment?

JacksmamaInAPearTree · 01/01/2010 19:02

I definitely think having them permanently repaired would be worth it... but another op, ugh. I've already had to have a repair after DS's birth. Pooooooooo.

Can't see the GP until Monday.

In the meantime, they're not really popped out, just bleeding. And definitely yes to soft poos, that's not really a problem for me though.

if it is really sore and from memory my single grape was very painful....i bought some lignocaine gel 2% over the counter at the chemist.(a must) It stopped all the pain within minutes.Used anusol HC and also got scherproct off doc.Take lactulose every day til it shrinks ,but you need a cream with HC in it

FluffyForLifeNotJustForXmas · 02/01/2010 00:15

I'll make a pact with you Jacksmama, I'll go if you go.

JacksmamaInAPearTree · 02/01/2010 17:25

Ok Fluffy, you're on. I'm going to ring Monday morning and get the first appointment I can.

Meanwhile - AIBU to think that if I don't poo for a few days, that will give the thing time to heal?

Ahh, if only it were that easy...

I had a really nasty one at the end of my pregnancy with ds and afterwards, it was the size of a plum and when it bled it bled.

One thing that helped was to sit in a really hot bath, rise up on knees and hold an ice cube on it for a minute, then back down in hot water for a min, then ice cube and so on.

It helped shrink it down a bit and I just kept doing that. It eventually went away but will flare up again every now and again, just not quite so bad.

You poor thing! Nothing at all to be embarassed about!

purplepeony · 02/01/2010 20:09

You might not need radical surgery- have you googled piles and surgery ( hasn't everyone, lol?)
They are often sorted with the elastic band tenchinque- tie it round, blood supply cut off, pile srinks and drops off. Don't try it at home.

purplepeony · 02/01/2010 20:10

ps if you don't poo for a few days you will then prob have amega hard poo and it will bleed even more. Little and often is better imo.

Jacksmama · 02/01/2010 21:04

I have Googled the surgery - eeeeeeeeeeeeeewwww! The idea of a scalpel anywhere near my bum fills me with horror... I've already had a scalpel in and around my lady bits (repair surgery after DS) and that was bad enough.

ROFL at "do not try this at home" - I don't even want to think about how to get an elastic band around a haemorrhoid!!

purplepeony · 02/01/2010 23:07

your DH could do it- new type of foreplay

FluffyForLifeNotJustForXmas · 02/01/2010 23:26

I don't think anyone would forgive their DH is they did this as foreplay purple!!

I will, can't get an appointment yet though.
