I am so tired. I feel so so so sick. Tonight at work I got so tired I thought I would just fall over. Just so sleepy. Then around 8:30 I thought oh shit I'm going to be sick. And ever since then I have been covering up my mouth to calm it down and I feel really sick. Havent actually been sick yet.

DS developed a rash today & has a headache and neck ache I started a thread about that in childrens health we took him to OoH gp who said it looked viral and not necessarily chicken pox which is what I was worried about.

What is wrong with me? I feel so sick. I dont have a temp.

Any other symptoms? headache? Achey?

When was the last time you had your gas checked?

hereidrawtheline · 09/08/2009 23:20

it came on when I was at work though not home. I have a headache but I get migraines a lot so that is fairly typical. I am achey. I am so pathetic. I feel really really pathetic.

Swine flu? I'm fairly certain that people can get this without having a fever.

Do you have a carbon monoxide tester in your house??

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 09/08/2009 23:23

here. DO you have a carbon monoxide tester?????? Have they been checked reciently?

hereidrawtheline · 09/08/2009 23:25

I dont know I will ask DH I should know we moved in last oct but I dont know. I thought swine too but no fever. hang on I will ask DH but then he will post next I am really really shattered. I have to lie down.

www.carbon-monoxide-poisoning.com/symptoms.html

Could be this, it needs to be checked.

gigglewitch · 09/08/2009 23:40

can you get out - now??

Frizbe · 09/08/2009 23:41

you don't always get fever with SF so could be that coming on.

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 09/08/2009 23:43

op's ds had a headache, sore neck and a rash this afternoon, carbon monoxide can cause this aswell as the OP's current symptoms. It really does need checking.

Frizbe · 09/08/2009 23:47

Not saying it doesn't! just thought as her dh is ok, it could be the dreaded SF too, they both need checking out.

hereidrawtheline · 09/08/2009 23:49

hi there
HIDTL's DH writing a message

we do not have a Carbon Monoxide Detector in the house but our boiler was tested just before and just after we moved in last October.
It is in a pretty open ventilated place and neither DS or I have shown any symptoms so it shouldn't be that.

However, the Swine Flu without fever thing is a possibility. I have seen reported 1/3 of cases where people have had mild swine flu but never any fever here
and
here

HIDTL has also had a non-stop migraine for what I think is over a week now, in addition to mad planning and preparation for DS's 3rd birthday, working evenings like tonight and being generally burned out

I still don't rule out the 3 bean salad she had when she got to work either...

thank you all for your concern and she will of course update everyone in the morning

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 09/08/2009 23:51

Thanks. Do check the colour of the flame in your boiler though, I tend to worry!!

Thunderduck · 09/08/2009 23:52

Do get a CO detector please. They're as important as having a fire alarm.

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 09/08/2009 23:54

Flame should be blue, not yellow

See, told you I worry.

stubbyfingers · 09/08/2009 23:56

Me and my kids have had these symptoms and the chemist reckoned it is a stomach virus. I personally felt nauseous and achey and generally completely shattered (even more so than usual!) whilst the kids had the more full on stomach symptoms of d&v.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

hereidrawtheline · 09/08/2009 23:58

hi all !!

flame nice and blue
i spend a lot of time in the kitchen so i think we're safe on those grounds

despite the anecdotal and articles to the contrary, if you go through the National Pandemic Flu Assessment, and you DON'T put fever, you get this at the end:

^This is the end of the National Pandemic Flu Service assessment.

The result of the assessment is that:
An antiviral treatment course is NOT recommended for this patient

There is important health advice for this patient (given below)

HEALTH ADVICE
Based on the answers provided the patient is not suffering from flu and will not benefit from an antiviral. Therefore the patient has not been authorised an antiviral.^

aarrgh italics didn't take - i'm not used to MN!!

It's OK. I have read info saying that not all patients have a temp. It's generally diagnosed for patients with the vast majority of symptoms. Not all children with meningitis have a temperature either, everyone's body is the same. Do keep checking it though as it can develop quickly.

Paracetamol and Ibuprofen should help with the headache and the aches, plenty to drink should help (not tea or coffee as these are a diuretic and help to make someone wee) to prevent dehydration. I would be tempted to call NHS direct though, migraines can cause nausea (does your wife have medication for her migraines??)but as I'm not qualified I wouldn't want to miss anything.

You have my sympaties, 2 ill peple in the house. You will do a fantastic job though. Just remember that there's always a light at the end of the tunnel, and please get some CO2 detectors!!

hereidrawtheline · 10/08/2009 00:11

CO2 detectors will be purchased.
HIDTL has had various treatments for migraine but the last one had some unpleasant side-effects.
she is waiting for something else and only getting herself through now on co-codomol which is a no-no for migraines as an actual treatment because it only really keeps them at bay and can end up prolonging them.

she will read this so she will know not to drink copious amounts of tea!!!! but water instead.

i cannot get any of the government sites to agree with the 'no fever' thing. only a report from the NY Times about some cases in Mexico.
if she does start exhibiting other signs, and we do too, then i guess we'll start contradicting them!

DS despite his rash is otherwise fine and in fact full of life and laughter!

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 10/08/2009 00:16

Kids are like that, I trained as a childrens nurse, the ones that were really ill got up to so much mischief!!

Some people don't tolerate water very well, it makes them go to the loo more aswell so cordial may be better.

try seeking out the British Medical Journal or the Lancet for the no fever thing.

Chiropractor's are really helpful with migraines.

hereidrawtheline · 10/08/2009 01:14

yes she had a few trips to a chiropractor a number of years ago but it was temporary relief and heavy on the wallet

going to bed myself now
night night

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 10/08/2009 01:16

I really do hope they both feel better in the morning. Do call NHS direct if you are worried though.

hereidrawtheline · 10/08/2009 09:48

morning fluffybunny & all. fluffybunny I dont know why your name is what it is but you know what I have just been doing, clambering about in my huge rabbit enclosure to give my alpha male rabbit his medicine. He might be put to sleep tonight and we are giving him lots of pain meds.

I feel shitty still tbh, I feel burning hot & sweaty but still no temp. Runny sniffly nose. Not so nauseous feeling since I woke up though. My instinct says something swiney is about. I dont know. DS still has the rash but atm says his head and neck doesnt hurt.
