Don't you cover them in duck tape?

bigchris · 01/05/2009 15:13

is that brown parcel tape? does it work? do you cut it off first ?

I heard the duct tape thing works. It smothers it apparently. It has to be left on for a few months IIRC

crumpet · 01/05/2009 15:30

Clear nail varnish I think has the same effect without drawing attention to the area. Has the same smothering effect

bigchris · 01/05/2009 15:41

a few months?!
so it is unsightly wart or duct tape?!!

Get a dog to lick it.

Tis an old wife's tale, but I swear it worked for me once.

I am honestly not bonkers....but when I was about 14 I had 20-odd warts all on one hand....(I hated it) I read a thing by Miriam Stoppard (of all people- she of the building rockets out of fish fingers etc) and she said that you had to lick each wart first thing in the morning, before eating or drinking anything- some enzymey thingy in saliva apparently containing antibodies (or something) I did it, for a week, and within another 10 days they had all gone, and I've never had one since.

jumpingbeans · 01/05/2009 15:44

Rub a bit of meat on it, then bury it, as the meat rots the wart disapears, try it ,it works

bigchris · 01/05/2009 15:56

bucharest, are you sure, I don't want to end up with a warty tongue?!! lol

split a dandelion stalk, and rub the juice on the wart. It will be gone within a week or so

slightlycrumpled · 01/05/2009 16:32

Our GP got rid of DS1 warts. He had his own freezing type pen. DS thought it was great like something off doctor who! It did work, they fell off about three weeks later.

Jux · 01/05/2009 17:03

Presumably all these things would work with veruccas too? Aren't they the same virus?

daisybaby · 01/05/2009 17:43

Place a piece of banana skin on it, cover it with a plaster and leave it. Change daily - works a treat.

EyeballsplayswithCake · 01/05/2009 17:44

PMSL @ you lot in your Witches' Covern

DisasterArea · 01/05/2009 17:46

DON'T TRY GARLIC!

DH read on interweb that rubbing with a garlic clove got rid of warts. He got really nasty burns.

MamaG · 01/05/2009 17:47

divorce him

MsMargotBeauregarde · 01/05/2009 17:49

oh god that's disusting. Just spend a tenner!!! what could be a higher priority ??

I'd rather have a bag of snax and a banana for dinner and save the money that way!!

MsMargotBeauregarde · 01/05/2009 17:50

Bucharest, that's very interesting!! I'd spit into a spoon though, and then paint the saliva on.

KnickKnack · 01/05/2009 17:53

Similar to jumpingbeans's idea...rub a potato on it, and bury the potato in the garden

Tea Tree oil has worked for several people I know. I works even better when mixed with equal quantity of lemon oil. Use neat essential oil. Dab on a drop 4 times a day.
Keep using it after the wart has disappeared, as they will probably still be some remnants deep under the skin that you can't see. Both oils are very cheap (a couple of £ for a decent brand) and a bottle lasts for ages and ages.
Its seems to help if you "file" the wart down every couple of days too.

ladyjuliafish · 01/05/2009 17:54

My mam uses caustic soda. She is tough.

RedFraggle · 01/05/2009 18:05

I'm with Jumping Beans; I had a wart on my knee, rubbed a bit of bacon on it (as advised by my Dad) buried the bacon in the garden. The wart vanished within about 2 days!

slightlycrumpled · 01/05/2009 19:38

ROFL @ mamag.

MintyyAeroEgg · 01/05/2009 19:42

Another one here who witnessed the same as Jumpingbeans and RedFraggle in my childhood. It certainly cured my few warts. My brother had 25 on his hands and it cured him.

But we had STEAK darling rubbed on ours. We were obviously considerably richer than yeeeewwwww .

FrannyandZooey · 01/05/2009 19:43

get it frozen off at the doctor's for free

Greensleeves · 01/05/2009 19:45

you need to walk widdershins around a yew tree at midnight, naked and banging a saucepan
