You need to fashion a barb, yes yes self surgery using a sharp metal barb and a mirror. If you can have the phone nearby to call 999 that would probably be a good plan too.

S1ur · 12/01/2009 11:53

oooh alternatively you could try inhaling steam with eucalyptus and a towel over your head and basin.

I am not convinced this works with bogies though

randomcupsoftea · 12/01/2009 11:54

what about one of those water nose sprays?

LowSlungAndOverhung · 12/01/2009 11:55

Hoover? Crochet hook?

southeastastra · 12/01/2009 11:55

tried that cupsoftea.

Stuff some Vaseline up there and keep your fingers crossed that it slithers its way out.

randomcupsoftea · 12/01/2009 12:01

Have you had a nose bleed awhile ago?

southeastastra · 12/01/2009 12:03

yes it bled alot after the op but nothing for about 4 weeks now

I had a stone stuck up my nose when younger pmsl a dare from my big sister!!! They put pepper under my nose and I sneezed it out

randomcupsoftea · 12/01/2009 12:05

sorry southeastastra I missed you said that. It could well be that. It sounds very uncomfortable - could your doc take a look?

Hassled · 12/01/2009 12:06

Try steam - breathe in through your mouth and out through your nose, and hopefully it will get dislodged somehow.

If it is a scab though, shouldn't you just leave it be until it's ready to drop off? Or I suppose it could have dropped off and then got lodged somehwere.

throckenholt · 12/01/2009 12:09

any chance it is actually something stuck up there ? My DS sniffed up a grain of wheat at harvest time and we had to take him to the gp to get it out (or the nurse). He said because it was a grain it would swell and be hard to get out and could also cause infection as it started to rot (lovely).

So - I think I am saying is nip down to the nurse and see if she can see anything.

throckenholt · 12/01/2009 12:10

meant to add - it was very quick and simple to get out - but not something you ought to try on yourself - (not easy to see up your own nose !!)

southeastastra · 12/01/2009 12:10

tried menthol and pepper, neither has worked. i might go to see if doc can get it out.

i've done something to my ear with all the blowing.

VerifiedLU4097 · 12/01/2009 12:36

I'm sorry, but this is turning into a classic!! I LOL at you doing something to your ear with all the blowing!!

Seriously though, go and see the nurse practitioner. She/he can have a good old look and tell you to leave it alone!!

southeastastra · 12/01/2009 13:02

i'm still trying to get it out myself. i really don't want anyone sticking something up my nose!

LilRedWG · 12/01/2009 13:04

Get thee to the doctor. It's really not worth perforating your eardrums over.

purpleduck · 12/01/2009 13:36

Could we all guess at what it could be??

Could there be a prize?

differentID · 12/01/2009 13:38

if it's a scab for an op 4 weeks ago then it's taken along time to heal.
What's wrong with a good old fashioned finger up nostril and root around?

southeastastra · 12/01/2009 13:42

my finger won't reach it! or tweezers. i'll go to dr if it's still there tomorrow. have to work today

OP posts:
differentID · 12/01/2009 13:44

how long are your nostrils?
