well done space monkey. i agree its the psychological more than physical and i still dream of smoking - it really did become my only vice and i miss it i still do, what spurrs me on are the adverts that i used to ignore when i was a smoker - the one where the little girl is crying over her daddy who has cancer becuase she isnt sure whether he is going to live or die.

i want to live to see my grandchildren and to tell my children "no am not babysitting - you made your bed...etc... am off to karaoke down the pub"

well said custardo, i agree

well done Space monkey and Lucy123! Keep at it, it gets easier. Am now starting my 4th week, still think of smoking but Allen Carr book is really helping. I haven't finished it yet, but it seems to be working already: everytime I feel like having a cigarette, I think about what he says. Spacemonkey, you read it I think, did it not help then?
Lucy123, when I got pregnant I couldn't smoke anymore, cigarettes tasted horrible, like old stale dry cigs. Wonder why I started again...

hi , just want to say well done!!! to all of you. I stopped smoking on november 2nd , I've put two stone on and my skin is struggling but i'm sure it will be worth it in the end. I don't crave fags now and if i do fancy one as soon as i taste one they seem so foul! My friend let me have a drag when i was stressed and i was nearly sick! So keep at it , soon fag smoke will smell disgusting-- and I'm sure sooner or later the weight will go back to normal... well at least i hope so!
WELL DONE!! Keep it up

charliecat · 04/06/2003 19:15

erm, its been in the papers, make smokers, overeaters and i think drinkers, sign an agreement to stop thier bad habits as its costing the NHS too much to treat them...sorry it took me so long to get back to this!

lol me too!
i presume this will apply to politicians too!

and would you be exempt if you take out a private plan!! am guessing not

charliecat · 04/06/2003 23:33

I think you have to sign up to try and stop smoking, with the docs help, patches etc, diets i suppose for the over eaters and avoiding the pub for the drinkers, you know, the doc will help and if you refuse the help then what? they dont treat you? Surely not...must get papers out of recycling bin tommorow!
