I think Kingston Hospital is £1.80 per hour.

I remember panicking more about getting a parking ticket whilst in labour at Kingston Hospital, than the birth itself.

NorthernLurkerwithastarontop · 10/12/2008 20:12

How long does £4 buy you? You could complain about it to the local PALS - you won't be the first I'm sure.

JDBfangirl · 10/12/2008 20:13

It's about a fiver if its more than 4 hours at the hospital I'm on placement at. The hospital where DS was born is free.

artichokes · 10/12/2008 20:14

£1.80 an hour and they ticket within 6 mins of a ticket expiring .

southeastastra · 10/12/2008 20:14

it's for the whole day, so even if you're just half an hour you have to pay the £4

though people often pass them on

Oh that's outrageous - £4 for 8 hours or 10 minutes? Definately complain! I would be interested to know if it's a city centre hospital btw. They often try to charge a fair whack to discourage non-patients from using it. The fact that this penalises the patients who have to use it seems to pass the powers that be by......

tissy · 10/12/2008 20:18

nothing

bluebump · 10/12/2008 20:21

£1.50 for 2 hours I think, although the smaller hospital is opposite morrisons so everyone just parks there rather than paying!

misdee · 10/12/2008 20:22

£2.50 or £3 for 2 hours at 2 hospitals locally. disabled parking oly free in disabled bays, have to pay if using a normal bay.

starts at 80p at harefield for 1 hour or £10 for a weekly ticket.

needmorecoffee · 10/12/2008 20:22

its free at the Children's for me cos of the blue badge but there are only 3 disabled bays for two bloody hospitals. BRI is next door. The only car park is up in the Oncology building up a steep hill and has about 30 spaces. So people have to use city centre car parks and walk.
From what others have said if you do get a space its very expensive.

morningpaper · 10/12/2008 20:22

Hospital car parks are rarely owned by the hospitals - they are usually run by private companies

nancy75 · 10/12/2008 20:26

£2.50 per hour (is in london)

TheQueenSpeach · 10/12/2008 20:28

Supposed to be all free in Wales.

£4 for even half an hour is fairly shocking.

southeastastra · 10/12/2008 20:29

it's in north london

Ivykaty44 · 10/12/2008 20:31

first fifteen minutes free - then £2 an hour. You can get a weeks ticket but cant remember how much.

ANTagony · 10/12/2008 20:33

Free - its in Wales. I'm on the border with Cheshire means I drive to one of the Welsh hospitals rather than the Chester one.

LynetteScavo · 10/12/2008 20:33

1.50 but I'm not sure how long that's for.

It's to make up for the rain y'know.

MegBusset · 10/12/2008 20:59

£4 no matter how short your stay. Complete rip-off

andyrobo237 · 10/12/2008 21:08

One hospital is £3 per day and the other is £2 per day. They even charge the staff a reduced rate - I used my mates when I was having DS as she was a student and didnt need it that week as was out on placement - I was there 4 days so it saved me a bomb (which was spent on the Tv and phone system!!)

LynetteScavo · 10/12/2008 21:10

MegBusset - £4 is harsh. The last thing you want to do when going to a hostpital for what ever reason is find £4.

Simplysally · 10/12/2008 21:11

I pay 80p a day as I work there but I think the public pay about £8 a day. It's a shocking amount - there is a scheme where you can get a season ticket for longer stays but you have to apply once you're in, so you sitll have to pay for the first day.

It's not even near anywhere in particular - the shopping centre/tube are miles away.
