Disneyland has to be a great incentive - I'd love to go there. It must be quite hard for u with dh still smoking. maybe if you have some success he might be tempted to have a go?

Hope you're still doing OK, mieow.

hub2dee · 18/03/2005 15:02

sparkly !!!! I'm watching you, and you can't hide.

I think you've done tremendously well today (even if you've cracked this afternoon).

It is quite warm outside, so do drink lots of water, and I guess water may even help flush out whatever completely disgusting toxins might be floating around in your body, but they are diminishing minute by minute.

Try the book, it might help.

Had to LOL when you said you'd been looking at WH Smith and then Tesco / Amazon etc. for pricing on Carr's book when you puff £4 worth of poison every day or so.

Anyway, you said you'd buy it. Have you ?

If you're still fag free tonight, and I hope you will be, maybe ask dh to smoke outside only - just for a few days (or as long as you can put your foot down). . It sometimes isn't easy watching someone smoke, but then again, watching them suck that poison can make you feel smugly superior.

Best of luck with it.

sparklymieow · 18/03/2005 16:12

I still haven't had a fag, forgot to buy the book sorry, kept myself busy by shopping!!! but fashion is crap atm so didn't get a lot.... and now I am itching to get outside and clean up my garden but Dh said I have to wait till tomorrow so we can spend the whole day on it...

OP posts:
hub2dee · 18/03/2005 16:39

V. well done on staying fag free, sparkly.

Who knows maybe you are so super-dedicated and strong and determined that you'll surprise everyone and do it all yourself unaided.

You must be one stubborn mule !!!!

Do the garden now. It'll keep your hands full, and you'll get an hour or so in before dark so you won't have wasted the day, and won't be too knackered. Also, the exercise might make you tired so you'll sleep better tonight.

You may find the book helps as it deals not only with giving up, but has good background info on 'will just one fag mean I've ruined everything' etc. etc. etc.

sparklymieow · 18/03/2005 17:07

Oh I am very strong willed (ask my hubby ) but there has been times today when I could have just sparked one up, but my best mate kept me on the straight and narrow

OP posts:
hub2dee · 18/03/2005 18:04

Stick with it. If after dinner / evenings tend to be a smoking time, figure out some kind of activity with kids / hub / friends / telly / book / ironing to keep you busy.

Good luck. Remember tomorrow morning will be one day completely free of cigarettes which will be an excellent base to build from.

sparklymieow · 18/03/2005 22:41

still doing ok, very hard earlier when SIL came round and they were all smoking in the kitchen but did it, I feel fine, I suppose I am going to have a horrible day tomorrow now...

OP posts:
hub2dee · 18/03/2005 22:54

Nonsense, oh stubborn mule. Well done for not giving in.

Night.

hub2dee · 18/03/2005 22:58

If you wanted to be extra millitant, have you considered declaring the kitchen / rest of the house a no-smoke zone ?

sparklymieow · 18/03/2005 23:06

its just the kitchen that Dh smokes in, the garden needs clearing before people can smoke outside, but that will be done tomorrow and Dh will then smoke on the decking.
I am going to go to bed soon, I feel very tired.

OP posts:
hub2dee · 18/03/2005 23:17

dh AND SIL from what you just posted - ie. guests are allowed.

You should change this rule. Do you really want the inside of your house / cupboards smelling of cigarettes ? A lingering ashtray to tempt you whenever you walk near the sink ?

Get to bed as soon as you can and drink lots of water.

It'll be lovely tomorrow morning. Sort out some space in the garden in an aggressive uber-hack and get the smokers to use the space as much as they want.

Oh, and buy that book. Walk somewhere and you will probably already feel a tiny bit clearer in your chest.

Enjoy your SECOND day without cigarettes.

sparklymieow · 18/03/2005 23:21

yea sorry guests are allowed... my brain is a bit fuzzy atm, its not like this at all.

OP posts:
sparklymieow · 18/03/2005 23:23

I am getting very tired now, starnge as normally I am wideawake now, I suppose thats was the nicotine keeping me going...

OP posts:
sparklymieow · 18/03/2005 23:26

and Dh won't let me tell him where to smoke, he is also very strong willed and will tell me that he will smoke where he likes..... I'll do it, I will, even with him smoking. I have a stinking cold atm, so can't smell the smoke and I am hoping that it doesn't clear for a few weeks and by then I will be ok....
