My dd (nearly 2 ) has bad cradle crap so I was advised to put olive oil on it but now her hair is really greasy, any suggestions?

I combed it with a fine comb to remove the flakes and I've washed it twice but it's still very oily
She's going to nursery tomorrow and I don't want her looking like I hven't washed her hair for weeks
Any suggestions?

i tried johnson's baby oil, rubbed it in left it for about 5 mins then shampoo it off. worked a treat. made need to rub a bit tho.

I find johnson's baby shampoo pretty "dry-making" iyswim. Or maybe dry shampoo? Or even talc?

When I use the nit stuff on DD it makes her hair look really greasy. You need to break down the oil with a shampoo.
Apply a generous blob of shampoo to her DRY hair and really work it in. Rinse this then wash her hair normally. It usually does the trick.

DS2 age 6 still has awful flakes on occasion.

We oil his head, then comb,then T gel shampoo gets rid of the oiliness

My 5 year old still has bad cradle cap at the front. I have put on olive oil then washed it that night with dentonox shampoo and it has come out fine. Still got cradle cap though as haven't done the oil again. We are out most days and when we are in, I forget to do it.

Seconding chuffinnora - a mum at the nursery gate who is also a hairdresser said that was how to do it - rub the shampoo into dry hair, then wash out - works a treat.

Re cradle cap, both of my dc's had it really badly nothing worked until I'd run out of olive oil so I tried my Bio oil, it practically disolved it before my ideas

Thanks from me too. Will try rubbing in shampoo into dry hair and shampooing off. How long do you leave the shampoo on before rinsing off?

sagacious, do you put the bio oil on dry hair too? my dd 2.10 has it still and although i have only tried the shampoo (cant bear the thought of oil in her head) do you have to leave it in long? or can you wash it out straight away?

Tiny amount of bio oil on the cradle cap. I left it on for about 30 mins iirc, then dry shampooed (just rub in then rinse off .. no need to wait)

Aloe propolis cream is excellent for cradle cap (and eczema and nappy rash among its many uses). Its made from aloe and bee propolis which is a natural antibiotic. My friend cleared her 3 yr olds cradle cap in 3 days using it

I sometimes feel like a bad Mother because DD STILL has cradle cap at the age of 5!

Mine is 5 too and still has it!

The hair dresser told me to get rid of it or it would become a problem.

my 8 year old still gets patches every now and then (but mainly it has gone now!)

My ds had it until he was 9, he's 14 now, and no sign of it.

Not sure why it would be a problem, I think it just goes
