I have this to
Its idiopathic guttate hypomelanosis …caused by sun damage

Thanks all here is another photo close up. This doesn’t look as defined as many of yours do you think it could still be IGH @MargoLivebetter @MooBaggage

I think that yours look similar, so I’m saying yes. With the caveat that I only know what mine are and am in no way qualified to make any kind of diagnosis. I have so many and they are merging to form larger clumps! I blame roasting in baby oil on tinfoil in the 1980s when a deep mahogany tan was the goal of every female!

I get these when I tan. Apparently it's a sign of vitamin deficiency

suki1964 · 01/07/2026 20:43

I have them and have always assumed they are the scars from mozzie bites, Im hyper allergic and most become septic and scab

echt · 02/07/2026 02:22

I have those. I've had a full body skin check annually after skin cancer years ago and not once has the dermatologist remarked on them.

The vitamin deficiency seems unlikely too. I have bloods twice year and it would show up, which it hasn't.

it looks like sun damage

Soosi · 06/07/2026 22:22

I’ve put mine down too being bitten by midges Etc as a teenager. The itching was unbearable and I scratched until they bled leaving small scars.

CheeseWisely · 06/07/2026 22:26

I have similar that show more when I’ve got a bit of a tan, they’re in straight lines though, and are the result of historic cat scratches!

thejelliclecats · 06/07/2026 22:27

It’s sun damage and totally normal.

mumisfull · 06/07/2026 22:30

I have them too and they’re definitely more visible with a tan and as I age. I’m actually very fond of them, not sure why!

truffleruffle · 06/07/2026 22:32

Looks similar to mine which I was told by a skin specialist was sun damage. Ensure you use factor 50 daily.

White freckles. I get them on my arms every summer.

Loss of pigment from sun damage. The 3 photos of the hands/arms look quite freckley maybe it is linked to freckles. Though the leg photo doesn’t have a freckley tan so know who knows

Started appearing a few years ago (I’m 75). GP said it might be fungal so tried ketoconazole (dandruff shampoo). Didn’t make any difference so it’s more likely an age - thing! Probably sun damage (I’m a sailor) but not serious- shows up more when tanned. Always a good idea to get skin things checked though - don’t rely on AI or MN alone. 😉

I have them, I am sure they are where I have had miso bites in the past

From the Cleveland Health Clinic:
White spots on sun-exposed skin are most commonly Idiopathic Guttate Hypomelanosis (IGH), which are harmless, painless "reverse freckles" caused by cumulative UV damage and aging. Other common culprits include Tinea Versicolor (a fungal infection) or Vitiligo (an autoimmune condition).

DoughBallss · 09/07/2026 21:33

I have these it’s probably loss of pigment or chicken pox scars
