Diarrhoea and struggling to keep water down

Mid forties female. Ate watermelon and didn't cut it which I think has caused diarrheoa. Water not staying down at all - time from drinking to going is like a minute. I'm edging towards dehydration. How do I manage this?

I’m really surprised a doctor recommended loperamide for a virus as all that does is keep the virus active for longer - it needs to be expelled which is why the poo problems

I agree. ‘Better out than in’ as they say .

Hope you’re soon on the mend. To make your bum more comfortable, squirt some baby lotion on the loo roll you’re using. Wype is also good.

Yes, agree, also, OP, get a hairdryer on low setting and gently dry the sore, excoriated anal area after each bout of diarrhoea, rather than using a towel or letting it stay moist.

I once saw somewhere that eating BRAT foods while in this situation will help.

That's Banana, Rice, Apple sauce, and Toast.

Hope you're on the mend soon.

Thank you. By the power of salt and vinegar rice cakes, I have the energy to go to the supermarket and get some white rice. We are moving up in the world.

No major bowel action since this morning, although I'm not getting my hopes up there...think it's hiding until the twilight hours 😂

Thirteen hours sleep last night, to add to the fifteen I had yesterday! Everything feels a bit raw but haven't had a D outburst since. Have just come on my period hahaha. But I could possibly be on the mend this time and things looking up. I am so grateful! Moving on to rice and potatoes today. Woo.

Hydrolyte icy poles or similar. Means you only get a little at a time as you suck which tends to absorb.
