He is very ill, and spent most of the day sleeping. They have made him as comfortable as they can, and I did get to have a about 15 minutes chatting with him and the kids this afternoon.

But it is clear that he is getting iller by the hour.

I realise that it is almost impossible to predict these things but his consultant thinks that he probably has around a week or so to live, less if he continues to get worse as he has over the last few days.

I know that MN is amazingly supportive, and I don't know where I would be without your kind words of support. If you feel that you want to 'do' anything can I ask that you contribute a few bob to your local hospice or the Macmillan Cancer relief charity? Dh and I are 'sorted' financially, and we would both like to think that he was remembered by people all over the UK helping people in their local communities.

We are hoping to get his MBE presented in the hospice (thanks to the wonderful work of MI, her mate in the FCO and the RAF.....a rare combination of disparate souls )

Much love and thanks

So very very sorry, MB ... just don't have the words ...

Glad the children are being so fantastic. Hope that Mr MB is well enough to get his award tonight.

Donated to MacMillans yesterday because of you and OJ - you really have raised my awareness of the vital role they and the hospices play.

We'll all be here for when you need us MB, you are a remarkable family and it's truly a privilege to "know" you.

Lots of love to you all,

XXX

Will donate.
Prayers from here too.

janeite · 20/06/2008 19:03

Oh I am so, so sorry to hear this. Whenever I find myself getting a bit stressed in school, I find myself thinking of you and how utterly amazing you seem to be to be: teaching, helping people on here, being a mum and looking after Mr Bishop too.

We did a charity collection at work for our local hospice recently but I will pop some more in next time I pass.

I hope things go okay tonight.

Hoping tonight goes as you'd both like, MB, and thinking of you, xxx

How would an MN coffee morning work? Do like the sound of that, if it fundraises...

tigermoth · 20/06/2008 19:25

Hopes for tonight, but whatever happens, I am sure he has lived such a full and rewarding life.
