He is very ill, and spent most of the day sleeping. They have made him as comfortable as they can, and I did get to have a about 15 minutes chatting with him and the kids this afternoon.

But it is clear that he is getting iller by the hour.

I realise that it is almost impossible to predict these things but his consultant thinks that he probably has around a week or so to live, less if he continues to get worse as he has over the last few days.

I know that MN is amazingly supportive, and I don't know where I would be without your kind words of support. If you feel that you want to 'do' anything can I ask that you contribute a few bob to your local hospice or the Macmillan Cancer relief charity? Dh and I are 'sorted' financially, and we would both like to think that he was remembered by people all over the UK helping people in their local communities.

We are hoping to get his MBE presented in the hospice (thanks to the wonderful work of MI, her mate in the FCO and the RAF.....a rare combination of disparate souls )

Much love and thanks

Thinking of you, MB XX

Blandmum · 20/06/2008 17:31

If he is well enough to understand what is happening it will happen tonight. The RAF has bust a gut to get things organised (along with others, MI and ANOther MNetter)

It just depends if he is well enough

Bugger

TheFallenMadonna · 20/06/2008 17:36

Not bugger to the MBE of course. X-posted while I spent an age composing my eloquent message

Fingers crossed for that.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 20/06/2008 17:39

Hope it goes ahead MB. How are the children?

Blandmum · 20/06/2008 17:41

Re the children, remarkable. They have their ups and downs but they are talking about things, about 'after' and about us making up memory boxes etc (We had hoped to do this for them, but in the end dh ran out of time)
