I can't remember exactly what is in it (milk thistle? fennel?) but I have a couple of so-called 'detox' teas. Not sure if they really help, but I tell myself they do.

micci25 · 02/06/2008 19:04

chinese green tea is meant to speed up the metabolism but you need to drink at least 6 cups a day. not sure if it really works though but it is packed with antioxidents so is v v good for you and it tastes good.

ComeOVeneer · 02/06/2008 19:05

Peppermint good for digestion.

Hot water with a couple of slices of lemon good first thing to get things started

Chammomile good to aid rest

there are chinese teas that are supposed to help with weight loss but not sure if there is anything in it. Puerrh and oo-long (aka wu-long) Dont buy them online though get them cheap at chinese supermarket.

agree fennel and peppermint tea supposed to be good for digestion.

schneebly · 02/06/2008 19:05

Jasmine green tea tastes nice

GordontheGopher · 02/06/2008 19:06

Milk thistle is good for detoxing your liver.

Nagapie · 02/06/2008 19:11

weak black Rooibos - it is the milk(fat) and the sugar together in tea that make it fattening...

sagacious · 02/06/2008 19:15

Dandelion for water bloating
Green tea for metabolism

Can't beat a good cup of PG though ! (imo)

PinkChick · 02/06/2008 19:51

hmm....am thinking maybe either normal tea with sliced lemon in or hot water with lemon in??..least i know what that tastes like!, this one tastes like im drinking paint????

Fennel tea is supposed to be an appetite killer.

Maybe all the tea just fills you up, so you can't fit in any more Hob-Nobs though.

LOL

Pu'erh tea has a great reputation as a "slimming tea" and is apparently favoured by Victoria Beckham. Have been told it tastes ok.
and oo-long tea, also for slimming, is supposed to be Oprah's drink of choice.
with any of them, you need to drink several cups per day to have any kind of impact.

PinkChick · 03/06/2008 11:04

thanks for that!, so would these be bought from health shops???

PestoMonster · 03/06/2008 11:05

You can get green tea & Red Bush tea from the supermarket.

pavlovthecat · 03/06/2008 11:06

Chinese white tea is just a good for you as green tea and milder in flavour, if you find green tea too overpowering/bitter. It is also packed with antioxidants.

PinkChick · 03/06/2008 11:09

yeah the green tea with cranberries tastes foul??is that normal??..i like something fruity/fresh?, this tastes like(not that ive tried it!) paint???

MargaretMountford · 03/06/2008 11:10

we love Moroccan Mint green tea - very soothing and refreshing

pavlovthecat · 03/06/2008 11:11

pink - i dont like my green/white tea with anything added like cranberry. its wrong imo!

girlnextdoor · 03/06/2008 11:11

none- you just have to eat less and do more exercise- nothing you put down your throat will help you lose weight- it's what you DON'T put down that will help.

There is no scientific proof that anything changes your metabolism except exercise.

PinkChick · 03/06/2008 11:11

so is it the cranaberry making it taste bad???

OP posts:
PinkChick · 03/06/2008 11:12

LOL girlnextdoor, i know that bit and thats exactly what i am doing, but every little helps and if i can drink things to curb my hearty appetite, ill give it a try

dragonfly teas -all lovely..can also recommend the Wu-Xin

MargaretMountford · 03/06/2008 11:13

I think green or white teas should be left as they are with the exception of mint or jasmine

PinkChick · 03/06/2008 11:16

LOL i looked at both of those, spent ages choosingshould have come on ehre first

pavlovthecat · 03/06/2008 11:16

Well not necessarily. It would to me, however green tea is meant to be a very subtle flavour, but the wrong make can taste bitter, leaving it to steep too long can make it taste bitter, so if you are not keen on the taste anyway, the cranberry will just make it even more foul tasting. I don't buy supermarket brands.

My SIL is chinese and when she comes to visit she bring a pile of green tea leaves with her! You can get good stuff from chinese supermarkets. I will try to find out what make she uses. It is all she drinks, apart from the odd english tea when she visits now!

White tea i softer, again needs to be steeped for a minute max really, I do buy this from supermarket, mainly as I dont drink it often. I buy Clipper.
