Welllll, carrot juice is nice.

Where are you going, and who's running it?

NotQuiteCockney · 12/05/2008 10:42

Your body is always detoxing.

A week of eating only carrot juice can't be good for you.

laidbackinengland · 12/05/2008 10:43

Nobiggy - it's in Devon - run by an organisation called Sura.

I saw a tv program last year and they took 5 woman and put them on a detox diet and 5 woman and put them on a healthy eating deit - all in one house.

At the end of the week they ran all the tests and no blardy difference - what a waste of time sorry but your liver, kidneys etc are made to detox every day without you do strange things in eaven

Rosylily · 12/05/2008 10:59

Hi deranged laidback!

Carrot juice is delicious! (you might turn orange) go for it!!!

laidbackinengland · 12/05/2008 11:02

Thanks Rosy me ol mucker - long time no speak - how is Hasan ?

peacelily · 12/05/2008 11:02

totally agree with ivykaty your body detoxes efficiently with the cleansing organs it's born with ie liver and kidneys. The reason people feel dizzy and faint when detoxing is not because of the body expelling toxins it's because the body is craving nutrients.

Waste of time and money IMO, your body manages fine with a healthy diet, enough fluid and not too many excesses.

Bluestocking · 12/05/2008 11:04

There's one born every minute. If you are happy to pay a gang of quacks several hundred pounds for this nonsense, go right ahead!

laidbackinengland · 12/05/2008 11:04

Thanks peacelily...I am committed now...so will use the time at relax and do yoga etc. Maybe I'll take a stash of food or get DH to bring me secret parcels under cover of night.

CatIsSleepy · 12/05/2008 11:09

take a couple of yorkie bars with you

good luck

themoon66 · 12/05/2008 11:11

Agree with peacelily and others who say you are wasting your time.

Rosylily · 12/05/2008 11:12

bring some headache tablets too! (for the hunger headaches )I could do it for a day (well half a day) but definately not a week. But you will probably feel great after the week, all purified.
I like the idea of a retreat though. I hope you find it lovely and refreshing.

Hasan is doing great thanks He's just had chicken pox and looks like a dalmation!

MissingMyHeels · 12/05/2008 11:14

I did one - Homefield Grange. Juices and broths plus a couple of colonics and lost 7lb, it was great and I felt really good afterwards. Went with four other people and we all lost a min of 5lb.

Oh and I didn't feel hungry once

SoupDragon · 12/05/2008 11:15

Can't you die from eating too many carrots?

ivykaty44 · 12/05/2008 11:34

A friend at school eat to many satsumers and really did turn orange... bless she was a lovely girl.

laid back - next time come and stay with me for a week and I will get you feeling wonderful for £150 for a week

green leafy salads with salmon, tuna and sea bream, puddings of berries and soft stoned fruits with yogurt and honet or melon and strawberries. My place is very peaceful, with a good stock of books. You can relax in the garden with elderflower water on a lounger. Soft wafts of honeysuckle drifting over whilst reading.....

laidbackinengland · 12/05/2008 11:41

ivykate - sounds lovely.... I'll book myself in at yours for the whole summer ? I assume you provide free childcare too for my 3 ds's ?

ivykaty44 · 12/05/2008 11:44

Oh yes just bring the dc along and I shall give them 4 cans of larger and 20 bensons whilst you relax and chill - dc down the park with us having havoc moments

5 dc is my limit though!

laidbackinengland · 12/05/2008 11:47

Sounds fab ivy.... I will put a £20 deposit in the post and await booking confirmation

Ok everyone - the general consensus is that I am foolish idiot desined to turn orange or , worse, die. I will keep you posted !!

Look on the bright side. You WILL lose shed loads of weight.

ivykaty44 · 12/05/2008 11:50

Yes but your body will go into starvation mode and the week after you will pile more weight back on...

diplodocus · 12/05/2008 11:51

I really wouldn't. Your hands and feet are likely to turn yellow / orange because of the beta-carotene (seriously - I'm not taking the piss!). Also will be very high doses of Vitamin A, which can actually be toxic to the liver.
