burnt my dinner (t'was all MN's fault tho for being too absorbing!!!)

DH went out and got fresh chicken and a curry in a jar (was making it from scratch too), and I remade...

kiddies food was salvegable (sp??) so was just mine and DH's.....

happily eating thinking how lovely ad tender said chicken was......then realised that it was still raw on the inside, not tender.....

I ate at least half my dinner, DH most......I am now worrying silly......

have I poisoned us both, should I induce vomiting, am I gonna die....????

please, I know I am silly, but I was rushing (never good to rush dinner, nor burn it either), but please tell me the odds of being fine/not fine.

pretty please...

Think you'll just have to wait and see what happens... Good luck! Surely if it was pink inside you stopped eating...Good luck!

Psychomum5 · 30/04/2008 19:38

salmonella sounds nasty.....got to try and give that one a miss me thinks!!!!

Piffle · 30/04/2008 19:43

very unlikely to get samonella if the food was piping hot.
if you do. It hurts like hell. Farts that could force a 4 minute mile out of a darts player.
diarrhoea that feels like your insides are on fire.
lasts 24-48 hrs ebbs after 24 but you'll not want to risk a fart for weeks afterwards
aside from that it is ok.
if you vomit as well seek nhs direct advice.

Even tho the meat was not fully cooked iwould still say you would be unlucky to contract salmonella. A large proportion of chicken is innoculated against salmonella these days and so wouldn't pose much risk.

if you start to feel ill then contact A and E or Gp and explain the situation, there are antibiotics you can take to help your body fight of salmonella and obviously the fact that you would be quite certain of the cause of your illness would make it that much easier for the Docs to treat you.

Know how you feel, someone gave me a mouly ready meal when i was preganat with DS (imagine the shock when I saw thr first bit of mould!!!!!!!!!!!) but we were bith fine.Funny how much the average healthy body can take!

HonorMatopoeia · 30/04/2008 19:56

Psychomum, you really have little luck with chicken don't you?! It was you searching for chicken on the last bank holiday the same time as I was searching for formula milk, wasn't it?

Seriously, I've eaten raw chicken at a less than lovely pub and was ok. I felt more queezy (sp?!) just from knowing I'd eaten raw chicken!

Psychomum5 · 30/04/2008 20:26

thankyou all for caring

I have had a good drink of gin and tonic, also had a friend here in floods of tears as her boy is in hospital ill and I had her DD here....she needed support for a while!!!

she laughed at me tho, so I have done a good deed, been that stupid I cheered a friend up.

she also reiterated the gin advice....DH not partaking tho, reckons it all a crock of shit.

guess if he gets ill and I don't, I'll be laughing hey (well, in between the fussing and caring and feeling guilty for not cooking properly in the first place at least!!!)

sigh.....me thinks I need to slow down a little now!!!!!

mehdismummy · 30/04/2008 20:35

did you use many swear words?

MerlinsBeard · 30/04/2008 20:35

step away from the chickens!!

MerlinsBeard · 30/04/2008 20:36

i once trod on a plug....prongs upwards. bloody hurt!!!

artichokes · 30/04/2008 20:38

I once got Salmonella from undercooked chicken. It was v nasty. If either of you do start being sick call your GP and tell him about the chicken ASAP.

anorak · 30/04/2008 20:40

You shouldn't have to worry about worms from pork nowadays btw. The parasites that used to exist in pork that meant you had to cook it right through and never reheat have been eliminated in the UK for years. Theoretically you should be able to eat it rare or medium like steak but I can't see anyone wanting to do that!

mehdismummy · 30/04/2008 20:43

broke my big toe by stubbing it on chair

Flame · 30/04/2008 20:45

(Is it J in hospital? Send my love)

Shall I appear on your doorstep to do coffeeing tomorrow, or have you had a call about visitors.

No chicken sympathy yet - sulkin cos my boy is screaming and i still haven't eaten (raw or not)

Psychomum5 · 30/04/2008 20:55

honor....yup, 'twas me with the chicken hunting....had to think a while for what you meatn.

mehidsmummy.....the plug really really hurt....was progs upward, I dropped the plug of the iron while coming down the stairs and tried to avoid.....obviously didn't...I now have a bruise, and yes, there was swearing!!!!

MoM...and rapidly backtracking from chickens believe me

piffle.....food was piping hot, so a small sigh of teeny relief.

flame......yes, tis J. A is being an arsehole as per, which sent friend J spiralling. S also lots of tears.

oh, plus....went up to say g'night to my J, and lost him......

t'was on top of the wardrobe pretending to fly.....

methink's his climbing skills have found a new level! Keep flameboy away from the bedroom!
