whispywhisp · 02/05/2008 13:55

Hi OJ. Sorry...I've not been around very much just lately and have just read thru this thread. I want to type something but don't know what to type. Useless aren't I?!!!!! But it goes without saying I send all my love to you, Steve and the children. xxxxxxx

onlyjoking9329 · 02/05/2008 14:49

Steve settled well last night woke up at 5am for a wee and has been asleep ever since
the DN came out to see him, she has ordered him an electric bed, mac nurse coming in the morning.

imaginaryfriend · 02/05/2008 14:57

OJ, it's so good that he's sleeping at home though. Some part of him somewhere will be aware of that. Is it the morphine that's making him sleep so much or the illness?

onlyjoking9329 · 02/05/2008 15:17

i don't think its the morphine cos he is only on 10mg every 12 hours then he has top up oramorph when needed but he has not needed any cos he has not woken up yet
i am hoping he will wake up for a few minutes when the kids get home.

mammyjo · 02/05/2008 15:32

Hi OJ. So to hear Steve is not so good now. Pleased that you hopefully managed some sleep last night though.

I would echo everyone else who has said you are doing an amazing job. I am glad that his sister did not kick off last night, I know she didn't speak to you, but I guess that is better than abuse.

Love to you all xxx

RTKangaMummy · 02/05/2008 15:34

Hope the children see him awake when they come home

{{{{{{{{cyberhugs to you all}}}}}}}}}

lilyloo · 02/05/2008 16:01

i think it's the illness that makes them sleep a lot my mum was the same.
At least when they are asleep OJ you know they aren't in pain

mommy6 · 02/05/2008 16:05

at the fish and chips - hope it woke Steve up

xx

NotABanana · 02/05/2008 22:09

Mmmmmmmmmmm fish and chips. Extra salt and vinegar for me.

Hope you all had some awake time together and then you have a good nights sleep.

onlyjoking9329 · 02/05/2008 23:39

slight change of plan, steve decided he wanted a chinese instead, so we got a chinese and he ate half a crispy pancake and fell asleep, he woke up again but was very aggitated, he was trying to get out of bed and refusing to take his tablets, he is now settled but don't know how long for. it could be a long night, we are having to meausure his in and out fluids but that is proving difficult cos he doesn't make it to the commode in time so we have to estimate the puddles.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 02/05/2008 23:40

OJ do you think he is getting worse, love ?

onlyjoking9329 · 02/05/2008 23:45

yes he is much worse he cant sit up unaided now and struggles to stay awake, he doesn't seem to have much problem with pain at the moment, well i don't think so but it is hard to tell cos of the confusion

BoysAreLikeDogs · 02/05/2008 23:48

How hard it must be for you and the children, OJ.

Wish I could help, you are so brave sweetheart.

onlyjoking9329 · 03/05/2008 00:09

Steve is the brave one really thou it is hard to watch him getting worse and knowing that he isn't going to get better at all only much worse, Debs our Mac nurse is coming to see us tomorrow, she has not seen steve for two weeks so she will see the changes in him, i trust her and i know she will be honest with me about time scales, but i don't know if i will be able to ask her as i almost don't want to know.
i think we may have to bring the girls birthday party forward thou.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 03/05/2008 00:17

Yes, that might be a good idea, jam in as much as you can now

Have a OJ

panties · 03/05/2008 00:17

OJ between now and the girls birthday is there any special anniversary for you as a family or a couple, may be you could celebrate that as well. ie, first date.
all my best wishes and love.

cositjustisok · 03/05/2008 06:55

Good morning OJ, hope you all had a restful nights sleep. Hope Steve has a good day today and is able to have some wakening time with you and the kids. Much love to you all xx

onlyjoking9329 · 03/05/2008 08:00

well I had a great nights sleep and got coffee in bed made by elliot
Steve slept until 5 then woke for 10 mins he had a few sips of tea, I hope he wakes up later on the kids are going out today with their respite family it will be good for them to get out as I can't take them out much as dont want to miss Steve being awake.
Steve was still worrying last night that the police are coming to take him to jail, he says he knows it will happen cos they locked him up before, I can't seem to stop him from worrying about it, steves never been in a. Police station in his life so not sure why he is thinking he is in trouble.

susue · 03/05/2008 08:20

Well done Elliot, that was a lovely thing to do for your Mum! When anybody is ill, with a temperature or say a urine infection, their minds play tricks on them and they seem to think up weird and wonderful scenarios!! Once when my DH was in hospital a chap we knew was also in and came to the end of DHs bed and wrote him a bill out for something, shook hands with DH and walked off! He had two days of antibiotics for an infection and was back to normal. To this day he doesn't know what he did. I check twice a day to see how you, Steve and your lovely kids are getting on, you are an inspiration to us all. If either of my sons ended up with someone who loved and cared for them half as much as you do Steve, I would consider them very lucky and I as their Mum would be very grateful, Take care,x
