Strange sickness bug?

Anyone had this strange sickness/ stomach bug?
started Saturday night really suddenly feeling sick after my dinner, went to bed and threw up throughout the night.
felt off it Sunday morning but perked up by teatime so thought it must have been something I ate.
felt a bit wishy washy and weak yesterday but loads better and managed to eat etc.
woken up in the night with awful cramps and nausea again last night and feeling really clammy. Why is it stopping and starting?! 😭

I weighed myself today, 9st 5, I was already under investigation for unintentional weight loss before I got ill, but I was 9st 12 when under investigation, so I’ve lost half a stone since this illness !!

My illness got worse & worse & late last night on day 12 of incessant 24/7 diarrhoea I ended up at Out of Hours (as the GP couldn't offer me any care at all at any point during the day despite me trying from 8am 😳)

Diagnosed with a serious intestinal, bowel & stomach bacterial infection, tracking to Sepsis 😳

They gave me meds there & then rather than a paper prescription to have made up today & started me on them immediately. They've sent a load of tests off & may change the medication once the results come back.

I'm weak as a kitten having eaten virtually nothing since a week last Tuesday & have lost a stack of weight - am down to just over 8.5 stone which takes my BMI to around 19 I think. But for now I do feel a bit better thank goodness. I'm virtually never ill & I wouldn't want to repeat yesterday.

Yes they got me on antibiotics immediately & they are definitely helping thankfully

I meant to say @Lockdownbaby2021 Lucozade has also been my friend! I had some delivered & it kept me going when I was instantly losing even the tiny bit of food & fluid I was managing to consume. Hadn't had it since childhood in the 1980s but it's been brilliant this last fortnight

So guys, you couldn’t write it. Yesterday my household (partner, 3yo and 10mo) all came down with a sickness bug, I thought I’d escape it as I was so unwell last week.
nope, projectile vomiting all night. Jeez, what the hell are these bugs this year ?!?

Oh no @Lockdownbaby2021 this is awful. I've genuinely never known a season like this in my almost 50 years for viruses. The weather where I am (NW England) has been unseasonably mild & I'm convinced that's just allowed bugs to become rife.

I'm really sorry to hear you've all been suffering, especially those of you who've had this for more than a couple of days. Just when I think it's finally going it seems to start again. At this point I'm wondering what the hell is going on! 😬

I've had the most horrendous griping stomach pain on and off for weeks, along with headaches, earache, toothache, aches in my upper arms and shoulders, and in my legs. Some nausea but not thrown up, on and off the loo, feeling like I could have a UTI but don't think it's actually that. But the feeling of inflammation in my intestines and the stabby pains there are the worst bit. No diarrhea as such but loose at times, no blood in anything so I'm sure it's a virus but how feckin long are we supposed to live with it?! 😯

Yesterday I felt better at times but this morning I'm a wreck again, and staying in bed mostly. I took a decent probiotic on Sunday and it helped, took the same this morning and it has barely touched the sides. The odd thing is, most of the time my appetite has been fine, in fact some days I've felt quite ravenous lol, but at the same time there's stuff I just don't want to eat.

Feeling quite low with it all now, the energy has drained from my face in the last few days (not a good look for me!)

@Lockdownbaby2021 how are you doing today, I'm really sorry to hear your family has come down with it.

@30percentoffatCosta your experience sounded terrifying and I'm really pleased you're feeling an improvement.

Do get advice if it doesn't clear up soon, glad you can eat a bit @baroqueandblue

Thought I was feeling a little better but tonight I’ve had my first proper meal since this second sickness bug has started and I’ve felt instantly sick after it and have had to lie down.
I’m losing weight rapidly and it’s not a good look for me x

OP that's really hard on you, disappointing and worrying. Have you improved at all since last night?

My stomach has been much better this last 24 hours or so, although I just had a beanburger, rice and green salad and it hasn't entirely agreed with me! But my symptoms have shifted to a sore throat, quite a dry cough, and my bones feel hollow and I can't get warm 🥶 No idea what's brought on this shift but again I'm mostly in bed today trying to keep warm and not wanting to cough because it hurts! ☺️

ETA: hope I'm not derailing the thread because it's about a sickness bug, I realise, and although mine has been similar in some ways, I haven't had any vomiting. Let me know if my contributions feel a bit irritating, I'll totally understand. Hoping you're all doing much better today though! 🙏

Hey all, reading this I'm wondering if this is what myself and dh have. Since last week I've had stomach cramps around my belly button on and off, now moved to a headache, dizziness, nausea. Dh however has had diarrhea on and off for 4 days?! I now have a sore throat, though I had a cold a few weeks ago and covid in August which was very different so ruling that out?!

I personally feel any diarrhea or vomiting over 48 hours needs a gp phone call. Or anyone who gets better then goes downhill again - these are often bacterial and can get much worse. My daughter had diarrhea a few years back that just wouldn't stop and it was cryptosporidium that neededed treatment. I know these bugs can linger and ongoing cramping and feeling nauseas is normal for some days after but ongoing vomiting and diarrhoea can indicate something else.

My stomach is much better but my symptoms changed to flu, so it's possible I've had one after the other! These last 3 days I've basically been in bed, yesterday I barely ate anything, and today I've managed some porridge and a can of chicken soup. My cough was dry and sounded like an angry sealion for 2 days, today it has broken out more and isn't so dry, but my chest feels a bit weak. I think I'm improving because since this morning I don't have that horrid flu feeling in my whole body, where you just want to be asleep 24/7 because everything feels totally blah. I'm still sleeping a lot and feel shattered but now when I wake up I feel a bit of hope that things are getting better.

The second sickness bug lasted a good 5-6 days of barely eating anything. Now I am ravenous!!! However I now have the feeling of pressure in the top of my head, I’m horrendously tired, low energy, spotty etc. no idea what’s wrong with me at the moment but I feel like my whole body and mind is alien recently x
