Strange sickness bug?

Lockdownbaby2021 · 26/11/2024 07:06

Anyone had this strange sickness/ stomach bug?
started Saturday night really suddenly feeling sick after my dinner, went to bed and threw up throughout the night.
felt off it Sunday morning but perked up by teatime so thought it must have been something I ate.
felt a bit wishy washy and weak yesterday but loads better and managed to eat etc.
woken up in the night with awful cramps and nausea again last night and feeling really clammy. Why is it stopping and starting?! 😭

I’m feeling really nauseous this afternoon. I bought a pack of coke yesterday (don’t like it much) and meant to open a can and let it go flat in the fridge. I read it helps somewhere. Of course I forgot to open it, but I’ll do it now!

Lockdownbaby2021 · 29/11/2024 17:50

@FaceLikeACrackedScreen yes my mum used to give me flat full fat coke (diet doesn’t work) and it really helps the nausea.
I’ve been on Lucozade and today managed to stomach a smoothie in small sips

Thanks @Lockdownbaby2021 , I bought full fat, not by design mind you 😂. I don’t like coke so it will be interesting to see if it makes it better or worse.

I didn’t think of lucozade but I’ll get some tomorrow. Did it help you?

I’ve got pain in my right jaw/ear/sinus today. Sick of it tbf.

I had to leave for work at 6am today and had to have a long nap when I got home, not like me.

Lockdownbaby2021 · 29/11/2024 18:12

@FaceLikeACrackedScreen yes it really helped and gave me a little bit of energy when I couldn’t eat at all. I just had Lucozade orange and let it go a bit flat. But the sports one is meant to be good too.
Hope you feel better soon!
I’ve just been having waves of stomach cramps and nausea today and now everything’s aching and feels heavy like my kidneys, joints, head ! Really hoping for a good nights sleep tonight after last nights gripe pains

Thank you 🙏

FaceLikeACrackedScreen · 30/11/2024 08:22

How are you feeling today @Lockdownbaby2021 ?

The coke did nothing apart from make me vomit. I think that's because I don't like it rather than anything else, one sip was ok, but the smell of it in the glass when going in for the second sip made me dash for the bathroom. Oddly I felt better afterwards, but it is back today (been awake since 4:30), so I will go and buy some lucozade in a bit.

Lockdownbaby2021 · 30/11/2024 08:27

@FaceLikeACrackedScreen I had a better night last night. Woken up with awful sinus pain though and pressure behind my eyes.
Still feel achy, just put on my work trousers and they are sooo loose compared to a week or so ago just before this started!!
going to try and eat something substantial for breakfast, hoping I don’t regret it! Hope the lucozade works for you xx

Feeling better this morning. Only one trip to the loo last night. Less achy and shivery. Fingers crossed this is all a good sign.

FaceLikeACrackedScreen · 30/11/2024 08:35

Pleased you seem to be on the up (and @lissie123 ).

Sinus pain has been a thing for me too, I had such sharp pains in my head last week that they stopped me in my tracks.

bestcatlife · 30/11/2024 09:21

Ugh, thought I was better but ate something last night and my stomach felt like a washing machine. Just woken up and nearly been sick again. 😭

HappyAsASandboy · 30/11/2024 09:48

I have recovered from the second-bout-in-a-week of cramps/diarrhoea/vomiting, but I have lost most of my hearing in my right ear and had a load of mucus from my right nostril last night!

So a lot of us have had 2+ separate bouts of nausea/D&V within a week, plus sinus symptoms of some sort. Definitely sounds like the same bug?

30percentoffatCosta · 30/11/2024 11:57

I thought I was past it as had no symptoms yesterday at all for the first time in days. Then was up again with an upset stomach at 7am this morning, & now the griping pain is back ☹️

I've not had it anywhere near as badly as most people on this thread but it just seems to be ongoing. I didn't expect another flare up at this point. The continual nature of it seems to be the hallmark of whatever's going round 😣

helpingDDfindaccomadation · 30/11/2024 12:07

It's the cramps and nausea for me and generally feeling unwell. Mine started with sinus pain/congestion.

I've only vomited the once, just feel like I'm going to be sick if I eat and drink anything.

30percentoffatCosta · 30/11/2024 14:31

The oddest thing is that I'm feeling really hungry at the same time as having the cramps. Usually when I have anything GI my appetite vanishes & I don't feel like I need or want to eat until I'm clear of all symptoms. I'm sat here with a stomach growling with hunger & toxic intestines churning & griping simultaneously. It's bizarre.

Lockdownbaby2021 · 30/11/2024 20:47

So I’ve managed to eat the most today than I have done in nearly a week! Stomach starting to make some noises, Hope this isn’t the start of some awful pains.
but I genuinely wanted to eat my tea tonight which is a first for a long time

How are you @FaceLikeACrackedScreen ? Did the Lucozade work?

This sounds all too familiar. Started Tuesday night (night shift) with wobbly stomach. Progressed the following day with explosive, urgent diarrhoea, dizziness, nausea, exhaustion, shivers, and high temperature. Thankfully, no vomiting but, embarrassingly a brief lack of bladder control. No appetite. This continued for a further 48 hours. Yesterday I felt considerably better, managed to eat some food and had no diarrhoea incidents. However, in the early hours of this morning I started getting bad lower abdominal pains and now the diarrhoea has returned with a vengeance.
First thought it was food poisoning as stomach viruses are notoriously contagious and DH has no symptoms but the duration of this has me wondering if it is a bug.
Sending sympathy to fellow sufferers, I usually have a strong constitution when it comes to stomach illnesses but this has floored me.

MegaPaws · 01/12/2024 08:38

Oh, and woke up a few nights drenched in sweat 😓

30percentoffatCosta · 01/12/2024 08:53

@MegaPaws I've had pretty much exactly the same trajectory as you - started Tuesday late afternoon, continued Weds & into Thursday when it was tapering off. Felt 100% back to normal on Friday. Got up yesterday feeling fine but by lunchtime it randomly started again, continued all day & I've been up twice in the night with it 😔

I only seem to have the diarrhoea & the strong stomach cramps, no vomiting (thank god) or cold/flu symptoms, other than random sneezing! But it just seems to be ongoing. And as I said in earlier posts. I've been hungry throughout - I've cut down my eating as I didn't fancy it but I've had raging hunger with audible stomach grumbling at the same time as my intestines & bowels have been toxic & exploding! Just bizarre. I stopped eating yesterday morning & haven't eaten for 24 hours in a desperate attempt to starve it out (I'm basically channelling my grandma's advice from the 1970s, at this stage anything is worth a try!)

Hope we all feel better soon 🤞🏻

AllThePotatoesAreSingingJingleBells · 01/12/2024 09:07

DS and I both had this last Saturday. I woke up feeling sick and while I was throwing up, I heard him cry out that he’d been sick in bed. We were both ok the following day apart from stomach cramps which lasted a couple of days for me. No diarrhoea thankfully! DH and DD escaped it. MIL had the same the week before. I wasn’t sure if it was a bug as it was a little milder than when we’ve had norovirus, and also normally if one of us gets a sickness bug we all get it, but now I’m thinking it was.

Lockdownbaby2021 · 02/12/2024 16:23

How are we doing? I’m generally feeling better sickness wise, the odd waves of nausea. TMI but my stools are not right still; very pale and some stomach cramps !
exhaustion has hit though and I’m very phlegmy !

Sorry you're not feeling 100% yet @Lockdownbaby2021 .

I've gone backwards. Decided to wfh today due to stomach issues - good decision (I'll say no more). I am freezing, shivery and tired. I've just clocked off and am getting warm under my heated blanket.

Runskiyoga · 02/12/2024 18:18

I'm going a bit backwards too, I was working today but headachy and a bit hot at times. I can eat now at least.

FaceLikeACrackedScreen · 02/12/2024 18:28

Sorry to hear that you're going backwards too @Runskiyoga , just remembered that I was hot too, in a t shirt at one point.
