Any doctors/nurses/medical types around? Please can someone look at the bottom picture on my profile and tell me what is wrong with me?

We are TTC'ing, but had a couple of BFN's period not due till Tuesday though, but either way, surely it far too early to be showing?

I am too scared to google....

(I am going to put this in pregnancy as well, sem to get more replies in there!)

Please anyone? I could really do with some idea of what this is, if it isn't pregnancy, and I honestly do not want to hit goolge myself!

No medic will diagnose you from a picture!

But you look a bit bloated. Could be anything. Could be nothing. Are you in discomfort? Anything else wrong?

belcantavinissima · 30/03/2008 14:01

wow thats some bump!!!!

i am no medical expert by any means but i have had a tummy like that when i have eaten too much wheat!
on the other hand with each subsequent pg i have shown alot earlier each time.
have you tried one of those early response tests?

NatalieJane · 30/03/2008 14:03

No, sorry know, they wouldn't just from a picture, but I'd like an idea of what type of things it could be IYKWIM?

No discomfort or anything wrong, don't feel poorly at all.

Should perhaps add that whilst I am not normally skinny, I am a size 12/14, with fairly flat-ish tummy and a few wobbly bits, nothing at all like in the picture, and I have been like this for over a week now.

NatalieJane · 30/03/2008 14:04

Not early response, but did one of those cheapie eBay ones this morning, BFN. I showed like this at 6 weeks with DS2, and a bit earlier than that with a MC in January. But when this belly started I'd have been a bit off 3 weeks pregnant, surely that is too early?

EzrasMummy · 30/03/2008 14:06

Fibroids? wheat? water retention? pregnancy? Go and see the doc.

belcantavinissima · 30/03/2008 14:07

oh i dont know really. does it feel firm to the touch? can you suck it in?
i would recommend you get one of those early testing kits. boots is open today- just go and get one now and do it!
i am sure i have heard that those cheapy ebay ones arent always accurate

NatalieJane · 30/03/2008 14:13

Ezra, don't know about fibroids, never had any reaction to anything I've eaten before, and pass on the pregnancy, so far it appears not to be pregnancy, but is still a bit early to get a BFP.

Bel, it has gotten bigger and firmer since I woke up with it Friday before last. Can I suck it in? the bit of the belly that was mine before the bump I can, but the bump shape stays the same if that makes any sense at all?!

I can't get to Boots, DH has the car and isn't going to be back till tea time, (he has taken our boys to MIL's).

I am going to wait till Tuesday do another test, and then see GP on Wednesday, I don't want to waste their time if it does turn out it is pregnancy.

Have no idea, but if you can't get a sensible explanation from your doctor then I recommend joining the circus .

NatalieJane · 30/03/2008 14:30

.... "And now it is time for the sensational, the fantastic, the great, the one and only, most pregnantest non-pregnant woman in the world!!!!!"

Can't see that quite working somehow, nice idea though....!

my mum never had a positive PG test with my older DB

NatalieJane · 30/03/2008 14:34

Never?!

My period was 9 days late before I got a BFP with DS2, but never is taking the piss a bit!

belcantavinissima · 30/03/2008 15:06

ooh yeah and there was that 57 yr old who discovered she was 6 mths prg when she thought she had a tumour

Kaz1967 · 30/03/2008 15:19

There is no point speculating you really need to make an appointment with your GP ASAP before you drive yourself nuts with worry.

It is probably something really mundane but if it is something more serious then for the sake of you beautiful kids you need to get advice asap

NatalieJane · 30/03/2008 18:06

Kaz if I was feeling poorly, I would believe me, but it just seems so unlikely to be anything too serious. Doesn't stop me worrying, but it is only till Wednesday.

Kaz1967 · 30/03/2008 18:36

I did not read you had an appointment alre

There is a condition you can get in pregnancy (and other times) called Divarication of the abdominal muscles which does look like this. We all have a small gab but sometimes it gets bigger and you can get a hernia. Mine has been diagnosed by the physio during pregnancy but normally it is found after you may be able to feel it your self it explains it an gives you instruction on how to check it your self www.befitmom.com/abdominal_seperation.html even if you can't I would get you GP to check your tummy.

NatalieJane · 30/03/2008 19:01

I haven't already booked it (my doc's won't let you book in advance, you have to ring on the day you want the appointment) but will ring on Wednesday for one.

Thanks for that link, am off to check it now

NatalieJane · 30/03/2008 19:14

Have done the test, the width is between 3 and 4 fingers width. So maybe this is an answer.

I don't understand a few things though, that article made it sound like this is something that happens after childbirth, DS2 is nearly 16 months, wouldn't something have come of it before now?

And, if it is this, what do I do about it?

Jeez, I wish Wednesday would just come and hurry up!

HereComeTheGirls · 30/03/2008 19:59

I have this exact same problem, DD is 17 months old and I still look a bit pregnant - was told by a gynaecologist that it is fluid retention!

HereComeTheGirls · 30/03/2008 20:00

And I had huge fibroids which caused a very bloated tummy, which I had surgically removed, if you had fibroids big enough to cause that level of bloating you would know it, I could feel hard footballs in my tummy and lying down was like lying on a watermelon.

Anything over 3cm is considered a problem but it is very treatable

It happens during pregnancy usually but have known men with it and they have never been pregnant. It is normally picked up after pregnancy in your anti natal checks but not always the only reason I was picked up early is I suffer from chronic back pain an it was getting unbearable so I was referred on. Every day things you will naturally be doing could be increasing it I am banned from lifting, pushing a shop trolley hovering. I have to get out of bed by rolling onto my side swinging my legs over the edge and pushing my self up sideways and turning over onto all 4's to get out of the bath rather than using my arms to lift my self out.

It may of course be something different so it is worth getting it checked out. Why does it have to be Wednesday are you working on the other days?

NatalieJane · 31/03/2008 16:28

Thanks for that Kay

The things I don't understand though is that it would just happen over night like that? And would it make me so huge? And why would my belly keep getting bigger and harder as each day passes? And why doesn't it hurt/ache/twinge when I move, or feel like how it does when you have just given birth and you feel like you have to hold your belly when you cough for fear of it exploding?!

Sorry I know that is too many 'ands' and questions, but I could do with knowing the answers!

Kaz1967 · 31/03/2008 22:41

As I said every day things can make it worse so maybe you did something without thinking and it set it off. Maybe you are pregnant maybe it is something else you will only find out once a doctor has examined you.

NatalieJane · 01/04/2008 07:11

Well I did a First Response this morning (day period is due - no sign of it yet though) it was BFN, so I have ruled out pregnancy.

Can't actually get to the doctors till Thursday afternoon, and am starting to panick a bit now I know it's not pregnancy.
