Any doctors/nurses/medical types around? Please can someone look at the bottom picture on my profile and tell me what is wrong with me?

We are TTC'ing, but had a couple of BFN's period not due till Tuesday though, but either way, surely it far too early to be showing?

I am too scared to google....

(I am going to put this in pregnancy as well, sem to get more replies in there!)

Try not to worry it's probably not serious most likely something very easily solved a few more days won't do any harm other than drive you insane with worry. Is there no way you can get to see them earlier?

NatalieJane · 01/04/2008 10:46

No not really, I could get DH home from work (he has offered more than once) so he could take me (I don't drive you see) but I know it really cocks his staff up when he has to leave, doesn't seem worth it for this.

I forgot I have British Gas coming to fix the boiler tomorrow, so it will be Thursday afternoon by the time I can get to the GP's.

I am very interested in what he is likely to do? I'd guess he'll want a urine sample, will he take blood? Arange a scan or something?

I think if he sends me away telling me to wait to see what happens, I might just bellow at him till he takes me seriously I am not one for being at the doctors for every little cough and cold etc. so I will be cross if he thinks he can just fob me off.

No good doctor will give you hassle about this it is not usual, you are obviously concerned and it is only sensible to get it checked out as early as you can. Explain you are really concerned. Have you any family history that would make you more worried than normal or is it just you imagination about what it could be? If you have a family history of abdominal problems then mention it.

Hopefully he will give your tummy a good physical examination. You can tell a lot from a good prod, he will be able to feel everything in there an make sure it is the size it should be (pollicyctic ovary syndrome is another potability) as well as checking those muscles.

He may want bloods too or refer you on to a specialist or physio depending on what he feels it is will depend which one. He may refer you for a scan possibly one like you had in pregnancy as you can see a lot more than a baby. If he thinks it is an ovary you may be asked to go with a full bladder just like you are in pregnancy.

If he thinks it is something like IBS he may want you to keep a food an event diary to see if particular foods or stresses effect you.

Kaz1967 · 01/04/2008 11:14

Oh if he thinks it is PoliCystic ovaries he may wish to get you to have a glucose tolerance test because it can be linked.

NatalieJane · 01/04/2008 11:26

My Aunt (mums sister) had bowel cancer about 6/7 years ago I am sure if it was something like that though that I'd have some inkling that something wasn't right pain etc.

Don't you get very irregular periods with polysistic overies? I had a GTT in my last pregnancy (would have been about 2 years ago) that was fine, don't know how quickly these things can change.

OP posts:
Kaz1967 · 01/04/2008 11:30

Not sure how quickly things change I was just thinking of everything that causes a bloated tummy really.

Don't think swollen tummy is one of the signs of bowel cancer so would not worry about that.

NatalieJane · 01/04/2008 11:39

I am just going around in circles, one minute worrying like crazy, but then think I'm not in pain, everything seems to be working properly, I don't feel run down or stressed (about anything else) so then my mind wanders back to pregnancy, I started yet another thread asking about the First Response HPT's, and are they really that good on the day your period is due, and people seem to be say no, they didn't get a BFP with FR till they were 4 days+ late, and I have a history of 'late' BFP's, but then I just don't feel pregnant either, so I go back to worrying, and start the cycle again!

Try and relax (imposable I know) a day or 2 is not going to make any difference. Try and find some things to distract your self so you don't think of it as much until you can see the GP.

NatalieJane · 01/04/2008 12:02

It is quite difficult to distract myself, wherever I go and whatever I'm doing, the belly get's in the way!

again!!

Thanks though for all of your advice, it is really appreciated

Having a good moan is great sometimes, you feel less guilty letting it all out on here too than to having a winge at a partner when you know they cannot do anything. Many men are not very good at just listening and doing nothing they feel the need to take action.

HereComeTheGirls · 01/04/2008 21:16

The gynaecologist could tell what was up with my tummy just by feeling it!

NatalieJane · 01/04/2008 22:44

Well period is officially late, so maybe it is pregnancy after all?

Grrrrr

OP posts:
Kaz1967 · 01/04/2008 23:16

Maybe it is late because you are worrying about it?

HereComeTheGirls · 02/04/2008 06:51

I would put money on it being water retention..and yes, maybe because of pregnancy. I will feel stupid if it isn't now but please don't get overly stressed about it.

NatalieJane · 02/04/2008 07:24

OMG, I think there was a line......

OP posts:
HereComeTheGirls · 02/04/2008 17:33

crossing fingers for you...

Kaz1967 · 02/04/2008 21:25

As it's really early it may be your hormones are just not quite high enough yet to make it clearer My test took ages to come out but it was one my mate err borrowed from work (she works in a hospital) they do take longer than the normal ones you buy.

NatalieJane · 03/04/2008 08:21

Nope, BFN this morning, but I have the GP's this afternoon, so hopefully should get some answers....

Still no sign of period, which I am undecided as to if that is a good sign for pregnancy, or a bad sign for whatever is going on in my belly!

I have very occasionally had a huge belly with pmt and it has been hard aswell.Constipation/food allergy?

NatalieJane · 03/04/2008 09:23

Doctors all booked up, but if I trail me DS1 (inset day tomorrow) and DS2 down to the surgery at 8am tomorrow morning a doctor might see me if he feels like it.

I am sooooooo bloody angry right now.

No, no constipation, and AFAIK no alergies to anything. Don't normally get any PMT signs, and the belly is 2 weeks old tomorrow, wouldn't it be a bit early for PMT anyway?

any news? did you manage to see the dr today?

NatalieJane · 04/04/2008 15:25

See here, in a nutshell, still don't know if I am pregnant or not, but it certainly doesn't seem to be anything serious.
