I have hurt my back so badly that ex has had to take over with the kids, my house is squalid through lack of cleaning, and I can barely get dressed

Pitymme. I am in full lonely diazepam flow here .... and still in mega pain. I can't even readjust the position of my feet without wanting to cry, and I will have to go and lie down as soon as I have typed this

And tonight was supposed to be my night off the kids, but ex had them last night instead so certainly won't have them tonight, and I was supposed to be going and and that certainly won't be happening.

Oh you poor thing, what is the problem exactly? Have you been to an osteopath?

SheherazadetheGoat · 29/03/2008 10:12

poor you! i can second the pilates thing, when you are better obviously! secondly keep moving, i know the temptation is to lie down but honestly the best thing is to reamain as mobile as possible.

hope you are better soon.

SmugColditz · 29/03/2008 10:15

Really keep moving?

It feels like all the muscles in my back have been paralysed, I can't stay upright without holding something. Will moving really help? Cos I will if that's true...

I was getting dressed yesterday, stood up from pulling my boots on, and suddenly could hardly stand. I had to crawl to the loo this morning! Poor little ds2 was crying last nigh for his dummy, and I had to wake poor little ds1 to go under to cot and get it

I have a nurse ringing me back .... don't know quite what they will tell me to do.

Ex is being vile to me, as he always was when I was ever incapacitated in some way.

But I need him to look after the kids, as he does it better and more willingly than everyone else, and they are happiest with him. So I can't rip a strip off, because he'll flounce.

Oh god

ClairePO · 29/03/2008 10:54

oh no see if you can get an urgent referral for physio, they will teach you some exercises that will really help you get moving again, or at least mine did.

moondog · 29/03/2008 10:57

Colditz,my dh was told he had broken his back last year. Very frightening. (He hadn't)

Can you afford private physio or osteopathy?

SmugColditz · 29/03/2008 11:03

Nope

I did go to an oeseopath at 17, with a similar problem to this, and he sorted it out, but that was £60 10 years ago.

To be honest until it's calmed down I don't think I can bear to have anyone touch it!

How's it going?

Has Xh got the kids?

SmugColditz · 30/03/2008 12:19

It appears that i had a trapped nerve or something, because after 24 hours or near forced unconsciousness, I woke up and the stabbing pain has gone, leaving just a muscular ache which is manageable.

I might go for a walk a bit later, but to be honest I am scared of my back 'going' again and getting stranded.

, you still hurting lots???

sympathy, tonnes and tonnes

hoxtonchick · 01/04/2008 15:15

ick poor you. could the pain killers be causing the d&v?? hope ex has the kids.

SixSpotBurnet · 01/04/2008 15:16

Oh lord you poor thing. Mucho mucho sympathies from another back sufferer here.

I really hope it gets better soon.

My advice is when it does get better, take up pilates. My back only ever "goes" now when I haven't been doing pilates for a few weeks.

SmugColditz · 01/04/2008 15:32

The D&V has gone now, but for icing on the cake I put half a pound on at my WW weigh in

The back has flared up again because it's the Easter holidays and I have spent much of today pulling one child off another one. I can't even lift them nicely, just been dragging them by one arm to stop them seriously hurting each other (I am very careful and gentle though!)

I can't hoover, sweep, or do laundry. It's all gone to Hell in a handbasket round here.

Ohhhhh it's all down my left leg now too
