Just that really? If you take vitamins or supplements to help with your general health what do you take daily?

For the last few months I've been taking Vit D (1000 IU daily), Vit B12 (1000 ug daily) and magnesium glycinate (560 mg daily).

DaisyCat33 · 12/02/2024 21:58

I take quite a few but I have Hashimoto's disease which affects vitamin levels. I'm currently taking 8000iu Vit D, 1000ug b12, 200ug selenium, and 250mg magnesium.

ZippyZappyZoo · 12/02/2024 22:11

200mg magnesium glycinate

turmeric

I’m a vitamin junkie. I take the basics like iron, vit D and B12, and have thrown in some vit C, co-enzyme Q10 and folate just for good measure. They’re probably just preventing each other from being absorbed at this rate Blush

bakewellbride · 12/02/2024 22:12

I just take one multivitamin. Completely healthy.

I had no idea people actually took these things.

GoodlifeGlow · 12/02/2024 22:21

None and I haven’t been ill since I stopped. I focus on building gut health as the immune response starts in the gut.

i used to take loads but I think we should be eating our vitamins in fruit and veg rather than taking unregulated, untested vitamins.

Because I'm vitamin d deficient
I have low ferritin
I'm immunocompromised and have hashimotos (known to affect/be affected by vitamins)
A multi vitamin covers most of my needs when I'm tired and don't eat well and veg/fruit doesn't have as much nutrition as it used to

I would be pretty stupid to have incredibly low vitamin D and not take a supplement for it. How is that snake oil? Confused

MotherOfMonkeys0 · 12/02/2024 22:39

Multivitamin, omega 3, vit d, acidophilus, collagen & peppermint. Also usually have effervescent vit c or Berocca.

My GP recommended iron supplements for my anaemia. A diagnosed medical condition for which iron is known to help massively.

So no, not "snake oil" at all 🙄

What an uneducated post.

Even the NHS recommends everyone taking Vit D between Oct to March in the UK as we don't absorb enough from low sunlight even if we go outside a lot.

I've got extremely low iron, only discovered it when I got really unwell and am supplementing now with iron and Vit C as it helps with absorption, so I wouldn't be so smug about never being unwell if I were you

Maising · 12/02/2024 22:57
