This has been going on for quite a few years. I've been really unwell with it and have lost everything important in my life due to feeling so unwell. Symptoms are getting worse. GP no help.....say it's probably anxiety.

Has anyone ever had this, seen anything like this, know what it could be?? So far blood and stool tests are not showing anything.

I'm losing the will to live. And I mean that literally.

Please help me...

This is every time I have a bowel movement!

Have you tried an elimination diet? Do you have abdominal pain, frequency etc?

Lillygolightly · 04/01/2024 21:41

Second what the poster above said and also suggest an elimination diet, Low FODMAP is a good place to start.

BluesandClues · 04/01/2024 21:42

That looks like a coeliac bowel movement to me, have you ever been tested?

AlwaysAnxiousAnnie · 04/01/2024 21:43

Yes, celiac or severe IBS/intolerance. Im dairy intolerant and have IBS and most of my stools can look something similar to this!

BluesandClues · 04/01/2024 21:44

Could be fat malabsorption as well, you tend to get floaty fluffy poop with that.

Valhalla17 · 04/01/2024 21:44

Is it something like Steatorrhea or Crohns?
Have you had any tests done, FIT etc?

missingyears · 04/01/2024 21:45

Yeah I've tried FODMAP. I spent every last minute of my time getting it down to almost zero FODMAP and it made no difference. I'm dairy free anyway (by personal choice) and minimal gluten. I did a whole month of zero processed foods (...very difficult!), which helped a little .

I have a frequently hard and distended abdomen with a heavy feeling. I'm frequently constipated. I have less and less energy. I'm no longer able to work, socialise or exercise.

I have intermittent pain under my lower left rib which radiates to my back.

What have you been tested for? Have you had a colonoscopy?

BluesandClues · 04/01/2024 21:47

You can buy coeliac blood tests online BTW if that’s helpful.

although I would suggest you need a endoscopy/colonoscopy and some proper investigations.

Valhalla17 · 04/01/2024 21:47

Your GP needs to refer you to a consultant/specialist OP. Its been going on for too long and is clearly having a huge impact on daily life. Push them tomorrow for full tests and a referral.

DysonSphere · 04/01/2024 21:48

Crohns, Celiac, Pancreatitis. Less likely but not impossible Ulcerative Colitis. Look into those OP.

Missingmyusername · 04/01/2024 21:49

Have you lost weight op?
Your G.P is fobbing you off, do you have anyone who can accompany you to the surgery and insist on further investigations.

justasking111 · 04/01/2024 21:49

Have you had an ultrasound on your gall bladder?

YomAsalYomBasal · 04/01/2024 21:50

That under the rib pain sounds like gallbladder.

missingyears · 04/01/2024 21:50

I have had a negative celiac test (while eating gluten). Negative parasites, negative FIT and negative something else.

I saw a pharmacist today in boots and showed her the picture....she said it wasn't normal, possibly fat in the stool. She said the GP needs to investigate. I can only have a phone appointment with the GP in 3 weeks.....which won't help.

I'm very very tired and giving up hope

OP posts:
missingyears · 04/01/2024 21:54

No weight loss.....otherwise I might have thought that I had pancreatic cancer!

Most of the medical professionals I have spoken to believe that this is a mental health problem/anxiety..... don't know how it's possible!!

I think that whatever is wrong is probably going to kill me eventually. In the meantime time I'm living a very small life.

My sibling has ulcerative colitis, but my stool test for that was negative, and I don't get diarrhoea

OP posts:
DysonSphere · 04/01/2024 21:55

Did your Celiac test include an endoscopy?

That is the only way to truly rule out Celiac disease.

missingyears · 04/01/2024 21:59

Celiac test was just the blood test.

You guys are all actually reassuring me with your suggestions, because you're giving me some hope that there is a cause and a possible treatment.

I'm so tired of it now though, that it is very difficult to fight my corner and ask for more tests.

I would pay to go and see a private consultant, and not wait for the NHS on this one. This sounds unbearable.

JenniferGreenHat · 04/01/2024 22:03

No advice OP, but best wishes. I hope you can get it sorted and feel better soon xx

vipersnest1 · 04/01/2024 22:06

Unless you have already seen one, you need a referral to a gastroenterologist, @missingyears. Don't ask, tell your GP that's what you want them to do.

WhatAFoolishFool · 04/01/2024 22:06

I am non coeliac gluten sensitive, to really do an elimination diet you have to eliminate it.

please completely cut out gluten before ruling that out.

before I did I had acid reflux, bloating, constipation, abdominal pain and oh my gosh the gas. Within 3 days I was a new person.

LongDarkTeatime · 04/01/2024 22:07

Did you have a few courses of antibiotics before this started?
If so could it be due to an overgrowth of unhelpful bacteria? If so you could but yourself a course of Bio-kult (widely available and used by specialists). If it doesn’t help at least no harm done and just some extra good bacteria in your gut.

missingyears · 04/01/2024 22:15

@LongDarkTeatime no antibiotics, but I did have some treatment for an infection that I picked up on holiday (an intestinal parasite)....but that's all sorted now and two parasite stool tests since then have been negative.

I might try the Yakut though (if there is a dairy free version)
