I’m on the Merry Berry alcohol free mulled wine. Yum!

muddyford · 24/12/2023 12:31

Not hit the alcohol yet (DH liver cancer). I keep pushing down the thought that it might be his last Christmas and I am making it as good as possible.

LemonDrizzle10 · 24/12/2023 12:36

@muddyford I make an excellent fake mojito with fresh lime and mint - would you like one of those?

Now I’m pre-diabetic (I think I have the chemo to thank for this as well as eating far too many crisps during treatment this year) I’ve been looking for alcohol free drinks.

Checking in.

I am lucky that my chemo cycles happen to have Christmas Day at the end of a cycle when I feel reasonably ok. I have a treatment notionally "due" on Boxing Day but happening the day after. But the timing means I will have some appetite and will be able to tolerate some alcohol.

Ooh, yes, please! We have been hitting the crisps hard too!

LemonDrizzle10 · 24/12/2023 13:08

@muddyford I'm stylishly sliding it along the bar towards you now!
Fancy crisps coming up too
The Patience in has stocked up on the treats!

Hi
I've just been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer, 14 years after my primary. Also just had a nasty sarcoma removed via complete hysterectomy.

I'm going to be starting targeted anti hormonal therapy next week and am feeling petrified right now.

Please could someone direct me to the appropriate thread for advice and support?

Thanks 🙂

Tilllly · 24/12/2023 14:09

Have had an hours sleep, feeling better now

Thanks for catching me everyone

Tilllly · 24/12/2023 14:10

Ah bollocks @Enigma52
Crap 💩
I'm sorry for your news

I'm on round 2 - lung - after BC

I don't know if there's a specific thread but we're all here to support you

Enigma52 · 24/12/2023 14:15

@Tilllly thanks very much.
Bollocks indeed.
Lung and abdominal wall for me.

Strangely, it's the bastard sarcoma that's got me. Mistaken for a fibroid until the bitter end!

Tilllly · 24/12/2023 15:13

Hell of a mistake

LemonDrizzle10 · 24/12/2023 15:19

@Enigma52 indeed bollocks.

@LemonDrizzle10 Please may I have one of those mojitos too?

I've just arrived at my sister's holiday cottage, out home for the next two nights. We've checked out the chimney and reckon Santa will get down it ok. Cracked open the first chocolate orange and the TV's on (ours at home is broken so it's a treat). Wine is chilling.

Husband hasn't set off yet 🙄. Just reminding myself to enjoy the peace and that this is why I set off with my daughter when we were ready 4 hours ago.

LemonDrizzle10 · 24/12/2023 15:34

@SewingBees yep - coming right up!
The thought of a cottage for Christmas is lovely- enjoy

I'd really like a gin and tonic but have to be alcohol free now so will have a diet coke instead if I may please, or a vanilla coke if you've got the fancy cokes!

@Enigma52 welcome to our lovely thread and so sorry you find yourself here. Lots of the ladies have BC (I have ovarian) and may be able to advise you but we are all here to support and help where we can.

Enigma52 · 24/12/2023 15:57

@Fantasea thanks for your warm welcome. Just wanted to make sure I was joining a relevant thread, as i can see the cancer forum and life limiting forum ( just don't fancy that one!) 🙂

LemonDrizzle10 · 24/12/2023 16:00

@Fantasea you can have alcohol free g n t if you like - apparently it’s quite naice.

Oooo yes please, that sounds very good!

@Enigma52 there's never a good time of year for bad news but I was diagnosed with stage 3c OC in December 2020, after a huge amount of faffing around since the February. Coming up to Christmas, where that is most people's focus, is so hard when you've had devastating news, yet have to muddle on.

Enigma52 · 24/12/2023 16:28

@Fantasea so true.
I was only diagnosed 3 days before my hysterectomy. Following an MRI for a so they thought fibroid, fluid in my lung was found. After aspiration, it tested positive for metastatic breast cancer. Same in my abdominal wall.

Then the mass they thought was a fibroid, was indeed a sarcoma.

I know our cancers and situations are different, but any coping strategies you could share?

Just feel my body is against me permanently and feel angry at those blissfully ignorant people who are swanning around, without a care for their health.

Clean co do a couple of lovely ones

Tilllly · 24/12/2023 18:45

I'm no expert @Enigma52

I'd say get a book and write stuff down - lots of appts, info, names etc

Remind yourself of the positives in your life - can be hard but it helps
