Good morning!

Roselilly36 · 12/11/2023 08:47

Yep bedroom window is always open a little, even in winter.

sparklefresh · 12/11/2023 08:48

Yes. Not wide, if it's really cold, but I think fresh air is healthier than a sealed box

Alwaysanotherwine · 12/11/2023 08:51

i did until i was bit by a particularly nasty spider

LadyFlumpalot · 12/11/2023 08:54

Yes, the window is always open, and in the winter we pile extra bedclothes on. I like a cool to cold room and a warm bed. I tend to find I wake up with an awful headache otherwise.

MrsWimpy · 12/11/2023 08:59

Yes always open a crack. If it's very cold, I still keep the trickle vents open.

CurlewKate · 12/11/2023 09:05

Yes. Always. Woke up with snow on my pillow once!

susiedaisy1912 · 12/11/2023 09:09

Yes, I sleep with mine on the latch so there is a small breeze coming through. Only if it's blowing a gale or in the minus' and bitterly cold do I shut it.

All year unless it gets below freezing.

Me too

Kitkat1523 · 12/11/2023 09:16

No never

Thisisthedawningoftheageofaquarius · 12/11/2023 09:21

Always - even if it’s freezing / snowing. Hate a hot bedroom - it wakes me up. Think peri is a contributing factor! But no downsides to having it open that I have experienced

mondaytosunday · 12/11/2023 09:28

Not every night but often. I never turn the heat on in my room. I love snuggling under the covers with the dogs curled up next to me. It dies make getting up for the loo in the middle of the night a chilly prospect!

ChristieEve · 12/11/2023 09:34

I do; mostly to give condensation from our breath an escape, but also because I love the fresh cool air, especially when I'm tucked in and cosy.

travelnorth · 12/11/2023 09:36

No because rodents can come in through the windows in winter 😝

searchfortruth · 12/11/2023 09:47

Always.

Wake up all hot and sweaty if not. So much nicer with window open!

walkingintothefuture · 12/11/2023 09:49

Yes, I cant stand feeling hot and stuffy in bed. The heating goes off at 10pm anyway so I open the window a crack after that for night time. We have that teddy type bedding in winter (which also dries super quickly after washing) so still feel cosy and warm but with some fresh air too.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 12/11/2023 10:05

Always, windows in the locked open a crack setting, trickle vents open, heating off. Lots of warm snuggly blankets.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 12/11/2023 15:44

Yes as if I don't I wake up with a stuffy nose and heavy head. Like a head cold

piscofrisco · 12/11/2023 16:31

Me-unless it's sub zero we always have the window open a little bit.

Goatymum · 12/11/2023 17:11

Yes me, I like it positively arctic in the room. And dh gets his extra blanket out for the top of the duvet. My feet are always cold though so I wear socks in bed unless it’s tropical! Our bedroom is boiling without the window open, even just a bit. I may relent and close window if we get to well below freezing.
I’ve always needed fresh air to sleep and find it hard to sleep in hotels with air con as it’s so drying.

Lizzieregina · 12/11/2023 17:15

cant leave windows open due to concerns about burglars and noise.

Also in the winter, it routinely gets down to -25c here, so way too cold.

DramaAlpaca · 12/11/2023 17:18

Yes, all year round. I hate a stuffy bedroom. The heating is always off at night as well, unless it's below freezing which is rare where I am.

muddyford · 12/11/2023 17:20

Always, unless the wind is in a direction that would blow it off its hinges. Then it's on a vent setting, shut but a quarter of an inch gap. Snuggly duvet and a blanket keep me warm. Heating off overnight.

Notcookie · 12/11/2023 17:23

No. I'm cold enough during the night as it is.

Also don't want spiders coming in or being woken up by early morning noise. Also have a pair of squirrels in the tree near my bedroom window and they chatter all the time and it's really annoying!

Spendonsend · 12/11/2023 17:26

Yes, mostly. If its particularly cold or the rain is blowing in we close them. We find it gets very damp otherwise. Sometimes they are only open a crack.

I dont like a hot stuffy room, but sometimes i wake up very cold so mid winter i have double duvet, bed socks and even wear thermals sometimes to stop that.

Ihateslugs · 12/11/2023 17:27

I had air bricks installed through my bedroom walls ( bungalow) as I discovered some damp problems after I first moved in. They are off set so the incoming air is not directly blowing into the room but there is a good exchange rate. I also have a window open on the vent position although I have to lock it as my bedroom is at the front of the house. But I keep the vent closed during the spider season as I’m not a fan of sharing my bed with spiders! I think it probably safe to open it again now it’s getting cold, hopefully the spiders have now mated and gone to ground for the winter!
