I’ve got something like that. It’s a scar from an old cyst.

Palpal12 · 11/09/2023 21:50

thanks so so much for replying .. but what do you mean by scar ? I thought my lump was just a cyst but has slowest grown and I am really wondering what it is .

I think you need to zoom in the picture to take a look at it.

A zoomed picture sorry if it’s gross .

I'd have bought an eBay scalpel for that beauty I don't know how you have resisted. I'm sure the GP will put your mind at rest, it's good you are getting it checked out.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 11/09/2023 22:01

How big is it? Do you have a ruler you can put next to it? It doesn't look very big?

If it's the size it looks then I don't think I'd be worried, if that helps you be a bit more calm while you wait for your appointment? Tbh I'm a sporner so would probably poke it with something or squeeze it! I'm not recommending that at all, and you're right to be an adult and see someone about it, I just can't leave things like that alone! (I've just spent 3 days working on an ingrown hair and now I'm a bit sad it's gone 😂)

pinkunicorns54 · 11/09/2023 22:03

I had one of these - i got it checked out when it started hurting and it had got infected. It had been there for years!

When it started hurting I'm sure they gave me antibiotics and it came to a head. It's all gone now and just left a mark.

Hopefully GP can put your mind at rest. I can't remember what it was called....!

Youthinkyoureuniqueyourejustastatistic · 11/09/2023 22:05

That looks exactly like a cyst I had for about 6 yrs. Either a sebaceous or epidermoid cyst.
I mean do get it checked out.
Does it smell a bit like cheesey feet when you squeeze it? Lol. That’s one way to tell.

Mine got infected after 6 yrs randomly and burst and I performed surgery on it haha and removed the sac myself (something you are not advised to do but I could see it sticking out anyway.)

It is most likely just a benign normal cyst.

VeloVixen · 11/09/2023 22:06

Doesn’t look like a BCC, looks more cyst like. Bet it’s got some keratin matter and sebum in it.

miniegg3 · 11/09/2023 22:07

Could be a cyst or could be BCC, I've known a couple people have it and have them removed with no issues, it is cancer but really slow spreading and generally just to the tissue surrounding it. But definitely best yo get it checked

Powerplant · 11/09/2023 22:07

Do you think it could be a sebaceous cyst? I had one for years and need antibiotics for it when it became inflamed a few years ago. Get the dr to check it out. I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about and try to resist someone squeezing it for you.

Palpal12 · 11/09/2023 22:09

It’s less in diameter than a pencil eraser . The thing that freaked me out was that it grew after each pregnancy a bit , what I mean by that was getting larger not expanding in size but I am studying about oncology and came across BCC . 🥹

It looks like a sebaceous cyst.I've had one on my back for about 20yrs, it became very inflamed once and burst to leave a really noticable hollow on my back. The contents smell awful when it becomes inflamed. I doubt if it's anything to worry about but you should get it checked out

Goldmember · 11/09/2023 22:10

It has a tiny head so I'd say a cyst.

Callywals · 11/09/2023 22:11

I have got something very similar on the underside of my breast. I've had it for just over a year and it eventually developed a head on it and I popped it with my nail. Foul smelling, white puss came out of it. It then went flat but kept coming back. I was popping it every other day after showering. Now it's gone a lot flatter and I pop it about once or twice a week and not as much puss comes out, I was hoping that it's gradually going away. It never hurts. I'm going for my first ever mammogram in a couple of weeks I've been called due to my age. I'm very nervous and wonder if it will show up on the mammogram and if I'll have to have it investigated further.

Happygerbil · 11/09/2023 22:12

Get it checked by a real life HCP but IMO it doesn't look like a BCC. Even if it were - you shouldn't be worried - they're very easy to treat. Looks like a little cyst or a dermatofibroma (both benign)

EmmaPaella · 11/09/2023 22:13

I’m a seasoned amateur studier of skin bumps and I say cyst.

Palpal12 · 11/09/2023 22:14

@Powerplant when it was not that bulgy I thought it was that cyst or lipoma . It got bigger after pregnancy which lipomas actually do . I am unsure now . Just bc my health anxiety doesn’t help at all !!

MrsMariaReynolds · 11/09/2023 22:15

I've had a BCC and mine did not look anything like that, it was flat and crusty. Yours looks like it is filled with something.

Callywals · 11/09/2023 22:16

What is BCC?

Palpal12 · 11/09/2023 22:17

@Happygerbil thanks so much , what scares me is putting it off for all these years and not getting it checked but it’s in my face I would think my OB noticed it or any nurse enough to alert them to get me referred.

OP posts:
Palpal12 · 11/09/2023 22:18

@MrsMariaReynolds sorry you had it . I am glad it rarely spreads . Thanks for your time .
