I haven't been to the dentist for eighteen years. I'm scared of what he'll say or do.Is my health in danger from germs leaking from my teeth?I'm mid fifties.

Hi,
being anxious of going to the dentist is common , particularly if you have not been for while .
Please remember that all dentists do at the first appointment is usually a check up , you can be in control of your treatments and options . Also, different methods is available for verbose patients, including sedation.
Good luck with your dental visit

@Puppytrashedmysofa
How are your teeth 14 months on since you posted your original comments?
I came across this thread when I was looking at dental discussions on Mumsnet
I have a check up tomorrow and I'm so apprehensive, even though I'm in a dental chair five times a year.
Once with my dentist, once with my periodontist & three times with my hygienist.
It's absolutely stupid how nervous I get.
