Severe stomach and back pain constant

So you’d probably think why post here, I keep seeing signs NHS say avoid using a&e etc. it’s easter weekend, I’m breastfeeding and have weak immune and autistic, the thought of trip to a&e :(

since this morning 7am I have had severe pain and I can’t tell if its coming from back or stomach. It feels like both. Urine is clear and no pain on peeing, no urgency. I was fine yesterday and had many pina colada mocktails and a burger.
This morning I cannot sleep for the pain or any position is uncomfortable the only slight relief is if I stretch back fully to sit tall. I’ve drank water and doesn’t make anything worse. But the pain isn’t improving:( it feels worse than labour..

reasons for post hopefully maybe gp on the forum or someone may have had this?

I bet money this is gallstones

I have them at the mo and am waiting or surgery. Pain is in right side under bra line and same place on my back. Pain is worse than contractions when I have an attack.

Pregnancy is a well known cause so lots of women get the pain after having a baby. Lots of people say breastfeeding or period hormones can bring on an attack.

How many mocktails did you have? Tbh I wouldn’t leap to gallstones; just google pineapple stomach pain. I don’t think it’s completely unheard of for your gut to cause referred back pain either.

Personally I think that’s probably your culprit.

Take it as easy as you can and keep up your fluids, you might find a heat pad/hot water bottle helps or maybe a warm bath. If you do take painkillers stay away from ibuprofen or anything in the same medicine family because that’s really hard on your gut too. Keep an eye on your temperature or any other symptoms that might indicate another issue.

your digestive tract can really cause a lot of pain if it’s disrupted, trapped wind is one of the worst kinds of pain.

Farmgirl12 · 09/04/2023 14:15

How old is your little one? What kind of labour/delivery did you have?

hiredandsqueak · 09/04/2023 14:18

Are you sure you can't be pregnant? Dd never had a positive test dgs is coming up for four. If you test late on it might not show positive dd was 26 weeks before she found out after GP felt the baby on examining her.

Baby is 3 months now. Me and boyfriend have had sex twice but pulled out, I struggled to conceive before her. I’m breastfeeding and no period yet, this was before we had sex and pregnancy test this morning is negative :( Constant cramping not going away but relieves on walking kind of!

natural birth then went into theatre due to retained placenta, second degree tear and lot of blood loss. Was on iron tablets until week ago. :(

Hoping it does one, just bearing it but not getting any better. Though does relieve slighlty when I walk so thats odd :(

Do you feel sick?

Farmgirl12 · 09/04/2023 15:04

You could still have some retained tissue? That could be causing the pain?

or if your little one isn’t too old could be after pains? Uterus shrinking ect?

maybe keep a look out over the next few days, and if no better give your doctor a ring.

keep a check on your temperature ect

I also vote gallstones. They like to turn up post partum.

adriftabroad · 09/04/2023 16:22

If eating and drinking fine and no nausea or toilet issues it rules out both pancreatitis and gall stones doesnt it? (my first thoughts)

I tend to agree with PP upthread that it was all the pineapple juice. You might have mild gastric irritation.

Felicity42 · 09/04/2023 16:26

Take Gavisvon 3 times daily in case it's excess stomach acid.

Yes. I didn’t had my first flare up when baby was a few weeks old. Then it was a couple of months before it happened again. Got more and more frequent. Gp thought it was gastritis due to my age and where the pain was located but an ultrasound revealed a big gallstone.

Pieceofpurplesky · 09/04/2023 19:36

If you have any apple cider vinegar take some in a glass of water. If it is gallstones it may ease it. It won't do any harm either.

UndercoverCop · 09/04/2023 19:40

How high up is the pain? Is it low like period cramps.or high up almost under your ribs?
I had a gall bladder attack caused by stones last year, it was more/as painful as labour. I had no eating/toilet issues and didn't feel sick. Scan confirmed it. I'm waiting to have my gall bladder out now

Damn, did you go to a&e? I’d say the pain is mid back and lower/mid stomach

had so hoped not gallstones! Did the pain cramps just go that they haven’t done immediately:(
