Looking for inspiration. Always curious about what people typically have for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks? Do you work out? And would you say you're a healthy weight?

Breakfast - usually toast with something or cereal, sometimes eggs

Snacks - cereal bar or crisps or banana

Lunch - beans on toast, cheese on toast, roll, bagel etc with yoghurt or crisps and fruit.

Dinner - anything! Usually a yoghurt or sweet treat after

Cake

QueenMabby · 06/02/2023 20:45

Today:

B: Porridge with peanut butter, banana, blueberries and flaxseeds

L: avocado and cottage cheese on one slice of whole meal bread with tomatoes, cucumber and radish

D: basa Fish tacos with peppers, salsa, soured cream, guacamole etc.

S: 2 coffees and an extra spoon of cottage cheese (I love that stuff!)

I drank plenty of water.

I'm a healthy weight still but have put on a bit in the last couple of years so am aiming to lose 1/2 a stone. Above is about 1600 calories. No exercise today apart from a brisk walk.

CC4712 · 06/02/2023 20:48

I'm classed as obese now. Weight gain mainly due to WFH for 3yrs and moving to a house where I can no longer walk to local shops. Also arthritic knee has restricted me a bit as I used to walk miles daily.

I cook from scratch daily. We get a home delivery/take-away- Chinese, Indian, Thai, fish & chips about once a fortnight- the rest is home cooked. I don't deep fry, don't use butter on bread, bake chips, and include multiple veg in every meal.

Breakfast- could be last nights leftovers, toast with tomato/basil, baked hash browns with avocado, yoghurt/honey/walnuts, porridge

Lunch- last nights left overs, toasted sandwich (generally ham/tomato/onion) a pasta with the sauce made from scratch. Puttanesca, carbonara-esque with added mushrooms and peas and any other veg I can add in, pasta alla norma or pasta con le sarde, a soup and roll, vegan Vietnamese rolls from scratch, or a substantial salad such as som tam, mango/prawn/avocado or today I had pear/pinenut/rocket and roquefort salad

Dinner- Lasagne with a salad, shepherds/cottage pie with a salad, fish pie, sea bass/cod or salmon traybake, baked fake KFC chicken thighs with steamed veg, light green or red curry, larb, tagine with cous cous, rib eye with steamed veg, pork chops with steamed veg and a mango or pineapple salsa, roast chicken and veg or various pasta meals

Today I've had chocolate overnight oats with raspberries and an oat milk cappuccino.

A big salad with humous, avocado, olives. 2 boiled eggs.

Another oat milk cappuccino, a big piece of Toblerone.

Teriyaki salmon with rice, broccoli, green beans and carrots.

Quite a lot of water but I've not kept count of how much.

I'm trying to cut bread out of my diet but normally I'd have a piece of toast with peanut butter and fruit in the morning and some crackers at lunch.

I've done a half hour dumbbell workout today.

Hi! Please could I have your recipe for chocolate overnight oats? I normally make them with fruit but this sounds like a nice change!! X

Goatinthegarden · 06/02/2023 20:49

Today, the quantity was typical for a weekday. I always cook from scratch unless eating out/take away.

Breakfast: Overnight oats with cacao, blueberries, chia seeds, Greek yoghurt and almond butter (more often than not, I just have porridge and a banana though).

Lunch: Always a small portion of last nights tea, today was jasmine rice, tofu, pak Choi, spring greens and fennel with a peanut and chilli sauce.

Tea: halloumi, kale, bulgur wheat, avocado with a harissa dressing, sesame seeds, tomatoes and carrots.

I haven’t snacked today, but I’m no stranger to a small bowl of crisps. I often have a little something after dinner, usually a couple of squares of chocolate. I also drink my body weight in coffee (Americano with skimmed milk) all day.

I eat out or have dessert a couple of times a week too (usually at weekends).

I cycle 20km commute daily (10km each way), three HIITs a week and am on my feet all day. I cycle, hike or run for fun at weekends. I’m quite slim but put weight on easily if I stop moving.

Jellykat · 06/02/2023 20:50

Breakfast - yoghurt and cereal or toast
Lunch - i dont eat it
Dinner (or supper as i call it) - baked potato, salad and tuna mayo
Snack in a bit - chocolate!

OnNaturesCourse · 06/02/2023 20:51

I had a BAD day today.

B. Cereal bar on the go.
L. Slice of toast.
D. Take away.
S. Cereal bar. Brioche roll.

Usually I'm more...
B. Toast with butter or pate
L. Pasta or soup
D. Homemade meal like chicken veg and rice
S. Oat bar. Apples. Crisps.

I'm a plain eater and not the healthiest. I always try to have veg pureed into my soups, sauces or as a side to my pasta etc.

Indiaplain · 06/02/2023 20:51

Lemon and hot water first thing

Breakfast - cornflakes and All Bran with whole milk, tea

Coffee mid morning

Lunch- Chicken/salad wrap with an apple plus a bottle of kefir to drink.

Dinner- breaded fish/sautéed potatoes & peas followed by plain Greek yoghurt for dessert

At weekends I will likely also have chocolate plus a glass or 2 of wine.

I'm almost 40, size 10. I do a couple of jogs a week , walk to work (20 mins) plus a dumbbell workout once or twice a week.

MrsMullerBecameABaby · 06/02/2023 20:53

Maybe it'd be relevant to ask for approximate age (decade anyway) if you want a realistic comparison - I could eat a lot more 30 years ago to stay the same weight than I can now...

Also what's a "huge" piece of toast when it's at home - was the loaf sliced horizontally?

Jellykat · 06/02/2023 20:54

Jellykat · 06/02/2023 20:50

Breakfast - yoghurt and cereal or toast
Lunch - i dont eat it
Dinner (or supper as i call it) - baked potato, salad and tuna mayo
Snack in a bit - chocolate!

Oh missed a bit.. i'm 59, 5ft 11 and weigh between 10.5 stone and 11 st

CC4712 · 06/02/2023 20:56

Maybe I misread this as things you typically eat and not what I actually ate today! So todays meals were:

  • Breakfast- large coffee skimmed milk and no sugar with a bowl of yoghurt/honey and walnuts
  • Another large coffee mid morning and a 1/2 cup of kefir
  • Lunch- puttanesca pasta from scratch (shop bought pasta!)
  • Dinner- Chicken Caesar salad made with yesterdays leftover Sunday roast chicken made with Romaine lettuce, boiled eggs, light Caesar dressings, bacon, anchovies and parmesan. Not bothered with croutons. No dessert.
OnSilverStars · 06/02/2023 20:56

Crusts off kids toast. Milky coffee x2

Nutty cereal bar

Rocket salad with leftover chicken peppers bit of cheese cucumber and homemade dressing

boredwithfoodprob · 06/02/2023 20:56

A few mini eggs.

Left over veggie chilli with puy lentils and lots of salad and guacamole.

A few squares of milk chocolate.

I run twice a week, try and swim once a week and do a spin class once a week. Aim for 10k steps a day. I'm an average size 12.

Today:
B: granola, skyr with banana, grapes

L: 2 boiled eggs, 2 slices wholemeal toast, mushrooms, tomatoes, lettuce

D: salmon, rice, asparagus, peas

Snacks: club bar, orange, a bun that DD2 made in Food Tech

MrsMullerBecameABaby · 06/02/2023 21:05

Today and yesterday I deliberately ate one large meal and two pieces of fruit.

Meal today was chicken wraps (stir fried peppers, green beans, courgette, sweetcorn, separately stir fried chicken breast and bacon, lettuce, cucumber sweet chilli sauce, tortilla wraps - I had two).

I walked 16km yesterday (do one long walk of between 15 and 25km each week) and 6km today (work day but started later - I try to walk at least 5km at least 5 days per week).

I usually eat two meals per day - breakfast just makes me hungrier than eating my first meal at lunch time.

I'm late 40s, BMI 25 (crept up since starting a new job in September where we get free cooked lunches).

Toddlingturtle · 06/02/2023 21:13

Nothing until 1pm apart from 2 cups of tea and 2 cups of coffee

snacks: carrot, 2 slices of ham, 1/4 cucumber, 4 mushrooms

trying to keep up the protein and lose 1lb a week. Mainly done this by reducing portion size, alcohol once a week only and no crisps / biscuits / nuts or chocolate.

DrunkenKoala · 06/02/2023 21:15

Afternoon snack an apple.

Cup of tea with milk.

Dinner was pork medallion with loads of carrot and broccoli. Sliced pear dipped in 10g of chocolate sauce (Jude’s).

Neverknowinglysensible · 06/02/2023 21:15

How good the majority of you are!
For those of you who have the occasional slip up, here is my totally honest food today:(Btw, I’m in my 50’s, BMI of 27, not overly active and do like my evening wine).
Breakfast: slice of toast, 2 coffees
Start of work snack to avoid looking at my inbox: horrible, cold bacon bap, cup of tea - memo to self: try to avoid overpriced, appalling quality, student canteen.
Lunch: M&S miso carrot salad bowl, bread roll, twixbar, cup of tea.
Pre late afternoon teaching session pick-up snack: bag of salt and vinegar Chipsters.
Thank God that’s over snack: handful of Haribos.
Dinner: 3 Sainsburys’s Swedish meatballs, ikea sauce, small handful of M&S frites. Glass of Shiraz.
Currently contemplating more wine and packet of Walkers Ready Salted to take the taste of the evil meatballs away.

bellavi · 06/02/2023 21:15
