Oopsy and upset

I'm feeling very sorry for myself. I popped to the shop for loo rolls and fell over coming home. I was so embarrassed, people rushed over to help me. I said ah I'm okay, only live round the corner, but my ankle feels very unstable and is so painful, my hands are all mashed up, my knee is grazed through my jeans. Bit worried about my ankle, it feels odd.

I think I just want a hand hold because it hurts so much! I'm really upset.

Im your age. I managed to fall off the bus last year, when trying to step down. My skirt remained on the bus, specifically tangled up round a hand rail end.

I am a secondary teacher. I was in the town centre rolling around the gutter in my knickers. 😂If only I'd had some toilet paper to cover myself up with!

I can laugh now. I am sending you lots of sympathy, and hoping my misfortune makes you smile

OldTinHat · 05/01/2023 11:32

I can't name you all because my brain is mush but thank you for making me feel so much better! The bus story though...how awful.

I'm thinking a trip to the hospital may be wise but I could probably conceive and give birth before I'm triaged...quite impressive being 51 too...

My neighbour just phoned me to say she's poorly and in hospital, would I take her bins out. It's just comedy!

I'm all dosed up with painkillers, I'll be fine (I keep telling myself that inbetween tears!). MN is keeping me company!

@Nimbostratus100 There you are! Send me your address and I'll post some loo rolls, you can never be caught short with a loo roll about your person!!

Please go and get that checked out!

gamerchick · 05/01/2023 12:12

OP you've had an accident and that needs to be x-rayed. You NEED to go to hospital.

Bronnau · 05/01/2023 12:17

Bloody hell, you really do need to get yourself to a hospital OP.

OldTinHat · 05/01/2023 12:26

I've called a taxi...A&E here I come. So ridiculous! Have packed provisions and will report back...

I'm so stupid.

LadyGAgain · 05/01/2023 13:00

Poor you. If it's an consolation I did something similar (without the loo rolls and audience) recently and I'm in a boot for 6 weeks post break in foot. I was triaged, seen, X-ray, seen again and sent home with said boot within 2 hours. Went to local walk in rather than main hospital A&E. Good luck. Hoping for sprain not break for you Flowers

Rosecoffeecup · 05/01/2023 14:29

Fingers crossed its nothing serious and I hope you are given something stronger for the pain.

Honestly I totally understand you on the shock element, I have been exactly the same when I've fallen. Big hug for you.

Pixiedust1234 · 05/01/2023 14:33

oh that really does look painful. Good luck at A&E, hopefully its not too busy.

AnotherCountryMummy · 05/01/2023 14:37

You are not stupid!! I'm sorry this has happened. Sending love and a handhold for A&E. Good luck and I hope you feel more comfortable soon xx

Talipesmum · 05/01/2023 15:11

Very sensible. Hope you are well provisioned - good luck xx

OldTinHat · 04/01/2023 17:13

No walks in here and our only hospital is in critical wotsit.

Stupidly sobbing because my ankle is screaming at me. I'm huddled under my coat since I got in, can't stop shaking. How ridiculous am I?!

You're not in the slightest bit ridiculous.

You had a fright and it really hurts. It's a horrible shock. 🤗🤗🤗

I fell over last week in the car park and a car turned round and drove away from me.

Definitelycross · 05/01/2023 15:17

OldTinHat · 05/01/2023 11:37

Ow!

That looks awful. You're not stupid at all.

Well if you are then I am too. I fell in the house a couple of months ago and smacked my head and eye on the side of my chest of drawers. I had to call a friend to come and look after me. Ended up in A&E too.

So I'll sit beside you, virtually, holding your hand 🤗

onepieceoflollipop · 05/01/2023 15:19

Hope your A&E trip goes well.
I fell over twice in the summer.
once in the shower due to putting heel balm on the night before I had horrible bruising.
bit
But worse I tripped over a bit of fresh air on the way to the park, on a very gravelly uneven path. Ripped my palm to shreds plus knee and foot not to mention the impact on my dignity.
No serious injury but I felt quite odd/in shock for about 24 hours or more.

onepieceoflollipop · 05/01/2023 15:20

(I was 51 when I did that btw….dangerous age apparently and perhaps why I wanted to post in empathy with you)

Runningfire · 05/01/2023 15:22

When I broke my foot I started shaking - I think it’s shock. I went to bed and when it wasn’t any better in the morning had to haul myself to a&e. The joys .

MaverickGooseGoose · 05/01/2023 15:22

Gas you're getting it seen, it needs it! Hope the wait isn't too long

CallMeBubbleDarling · 05/01/2023 15:25

Ouch that looks painful. I fell 2 months ago and hurt both ankles which required X-rays and mris. Not broken but unbelievably painful. I’m still on crutches now, it’s so debilitating. Treat yourself to lots of rest and keep on top of the pain killers. Hope you aren’t waiting too long to be seen

@Definitelycross
just realised that like me, you had both an indoor and an outdoor ‘incident’
hope you’re fully back to normal Smile

No I had one on a first date too. Right outside a popular takeaway with a huge line outside.

I think it's just something I do 🤷‍♀️😂😂😂

lovelilies · 05/01/2023 16:45

I triage in A&E and was going to pop on and suggest you go in about 0700 as usually you'll be seen and done and dusted quicker (midday til midnight are really the worst times IME).
Anyway I hope you get an X-ray soon and feel better ❤️‍🩹

unicornwonders · 05/01/2023 16:56

glad your getting checked out, i did this exact thing a couple months ago, i had a hairline fracture and soft tissue injury. My ankle looked the same as yours. Hope your not waiting long
