And my consultation is next week! I am very nervous and kind of know what to expect from the consultation but have no idea how long it will be between consultation and surgery. Does anyone have any ideas? Would it be a case of weeks or months?

TIA

ooo congratulations, your sooooooo lucky, i want mine doing on the nhs as id never afford it personally. What did u say to manage to get yourself referred? i have HUGE boobs that really hurt my back...dya think im in with a chance?

babybuttercup · 30/01/2008 16:50

i think thats a good enough reason!
Seriously though, i just plucked up the courage to talk to my doctor. I mentioned that it was affecting my confidence, my bra straps were digging into my shoulders, back ache etc. My doctor completely agreed that i should have it done and wrote a letter of appeal to see if NHS would do it and they said yes! Have you spoken to your doc?

Wish i could have one, what size are you if you don't mind me asking?

Congratulations & i hope it all goes well, keep us updated

mylittlepudding · 30/01/2008 16:52

Prob a few months, depending on your area.
Consultation should be brief - but it is worth reading about the different techniques before you go and asking which they do. And getting them pinned down as to what size they expect to reduce you to. Good luck!

ellpea · 30/01/2008 16:56

hi babybuttercup
also interested in what size you are...i'd like a reduction too...my boobs got huge after having my 10 mo old and now one is bigger than the other (G and F cups). I presume it would affect bf in the future though?

babybuttercup · 30/01/2008 16:59

Scooby im a size 36/38 F i think, to be honest i havent been measured for ages as too embaressed, but that was my size when i was last measured!!

Mylittlepudding i hope its not that long! I was hoping ( well wishing and praying! ) that it would be a matter of weeks!

I have my police training at the end of April and could really do with having smaller boobs for it

OP posts:
babybuttercup · 30/01/2008 17:00

ellpea yes it would more than likely affect bf which is a great concern to me as i dont have any children and would love them in the future

Would love to get mine reduced as well, have terrile back probs and permanent indents on my shoulders from bra straps.

Will def get it done when my family is complete.

Good luck with it all, my friend got hers done on the NHS and had a fantastic result, she's like a new woman.

louii · 30/01/2008 17:01

mines are a 36GG

ScoobyDoo · 30/01/2008 17:04

I am a 34 F i hate my boobs, they give me back ache, i was a 32D before i had kids & that was just right for my body, i may moan to my doctor.

babybuttercup · 30/01/2008 17:05

Louii mine could well be that size too as havent been measured for about 2 years+! It doesnt help that im a size 12 everywhere else so am rather top heavy!
Pleased it has been successful for your friend!

Scooby if it is affecting your confidence and is causing medical problems ie, back ache then they are the main reasons for NHS! Moan moan and moan to your doc!

AllieBongo · 30/01/2008 17:07

i'm considering a joint moan with my sis. I am a 34ff and she is a 32j bless her D you have to contribute anything towards the surgery?

Lizzzombie · 30/01/2008 17:08

Great news that you have got it all booked up.
Can I just offer some advice from my point of view though. As an ex bra fitter from a well known chain of shops which specialise in ladies with big boobs. Please please get yourself fitted properly PRIOR to going in for the op, so you know exactly what size you are now, and take in a bra with you that you want to fit into after the operation.
I fitted too many women who thought that they were originally for example, a 36 F then had the op, came for a fitting and were in tears in the changing room with me, when they were told that they're actual size now was a 32 G or something, and they hadnt been fitted correctly before hand.
Or, woman, that were told they were now a "D" cup, and that was it. When actually there is not such a thing, as it always relates to your actual back size too. Eg. 36 C = 34 D = 32 DD = 30 E etc.
Apologies if I am preaching to the converted but its something I have had alot of first hand experience with.
Similarily, I have seen lots of great reductions, and happy women. But, the best tip I could give you is to take a bra which you would love to wear in with you, so they know what your expectations are.
One woman told me that her reduction had gone wrong. In fact, it hadn't, it was just that she was quite plump, and although they had reduced her boob size, she was left with excess 'flab' on the sides still, and her expectations were not managed correctly by the surgeon.
Hope this all makes sense!
Good luck xxx

babybuttercup · 30/01/2008 17:13

Allie it is completely free!

Lizzie that is some fantastic advice thankyou. I know i shouldnt be embaressed and they have seen it all but.... I had never even thought about taking a bra in of the size i wanted to be i will go and have a look around before next week and see what size i want to be. Again thankyou!!!
